Welcome to the Betting News MLB picks page. On this page, you can find free MLB picks daily for every matchup on the Major League Baseball schedule. We have MLB moneyline picks, MLB total (also known as over/under) picks, and MLB run line picks, as well as MLB score predictions and notable betting stats and trends for each game.

The baseball picks found here come from trusted sports betting industry sources, and we aggregate those picks and match them up with corresponding MLB game odds to come up with recommended moneyline, total, and run line picks for each diamond duel.

Of the major North American sports leagues, the MLB season lasts the longest in terms of games played. In the MLB regular season, each team plays 162 games, and if a team plays the maximum games in each round of the MLB playoffs, they could play as many as 22 postseason games.

Where to Bet on MLB Picks

If you are on our MLB picks page, that means you are likely looking to bet on today’s Major League Baseball games.

MLB is one of the biggest professional sports leagues in North America, and it is the top professional baseball league in the world. If you look at any of the top sports betting sites for American bettors, you will find MLB betting markets throughout the season and even in the offseason.

Of course, every sportsbook is not the same. Many may offer a lot of the same things, but where one book may stand out for its options for MLB props, another book may stand out for its variety of MLB futures odds.

Therefore, whether a particular betting site is an option for you may depend on what you are looking for.

Here are a handful of books we recommend as the best MLB betting sites:

If you are not familiar with one or more of the sportsbooks on this list, use our reviews to help you decide if you want to try them out.

Our in-depth sportsbook reviews cover available betting options, deposit and payout options, mobile betting, bonuses and promos. Those are some of the areas many bettors consider the most when deciding where to wager.

Sportsbook Reviews for the Best MLB Betting Sites

Many sports bettors like to shop around and have multiple options (or “outs,” in sports betting lingo) for this reason or to take advantage of bonuses, get the best value, or just because they like to have variety. But if you are looking to get the most bang for your buck in one place, look no further than a sportsbook like BetOnline.

Along with the basic MLB moneyline, total, and run line odds for every game, BetOnline offers MLB props for every game, a lot of MLB futures markets, MLB same-game parlays, and even MLB series odds, as well as live MLB betting.

MLB Season Structure

  • March/April to late September/early October: MLB regular season
  • July: Home Run Derby & MLB All-Star Game
  • October (and potentially November): MLB playoffs & World Series

The 2024 MLB season started on March 20 with the Los Angeles Dodgers and San Diego Padres meeting in Seoul, South Korea, and it will end on Sunday, September 29.

The 2024 MLB playoffs will start the following week, starting with the Wild Card Round, followed by the Division Series round, then the ALCS (American League Championship Series) and NLCS (National League Championship Series), and the World Series, which pits the ALCS winner against the NLCS winner.

All told, there are 2,430 regular season games and potentially as many as 53 postseason games to look forward to, along with the annual MLB All-Star Game (July 16 at Globe Life Field in Arlington, Texas, which is the home of the World Series champion Texas Rangers).

With every team playing so many games and ten or more games on the schedule most days, there’s a lot of money to be made betting on baseball this season, especially during the summer weeks after the NBA and NHL seasons have finished and the NFL and college football seasons are on the horizon.

So, if MLB betting is something you enjoy doing or would like to start doing, our MLB picks page should be very helpful for you. Use this page and our other baseball content as part of your research for wagering on tonight’s action from Atlanta to Anaheim.

Types of MLB Picks

Moneyline Picks

On this page, you can find MLB moneyline picks for all of today’s games.

The outcome of moneyline picks is solely down to who wins and who loses.

From a betting perspective, what does that mean? Say, for example, the Atlanta Braves are hosting the Philadelphia Phillies tonight in an NL East rivalry matchup.

  • If the Braves win, any moneyline bets on the Braves win.
  • If the Phillies win, any moneyline bets on the Phillies win.

How do these MLB moneyline picks work?

In this example, 80% of our listed MLB picks sources favor the Braves to win at home. The best Braves moneyline odds can be found at BetOnline, where Atlanta is -135 to win. Therefore, Braves -135 at BetOnline will be listed as the recommended moneyline pick for this matchup.

Total (Over/Under) Picks

Also, you can find MLB total picks for every game here. Betting on totals, which is also known as over/under betting, is one of the most popular ways to bet on many sports, including MLB.

How does MLB total betting work?

While the outcome of moneyline and run line picks is dependent in some way on the outcome of the game, the outcome of total picks, which are also known as over/under picks, is dependent on how many runs are scored, no matter who wins.

For example, the total for the matchup between the Phillies and Braves is set at 8.5. What does that mean?

  • If the Phillies and Braves combine for nine or more runs, then any bets on the over are winners. If the Braves defeat the Phillies 7-3, the over is a winner.
  • If the Phillies and Braves combine for eight or fewer runs, any bets on the under are winners. If the Braves defeat the Phillies 5-2, the under is a winner.

So, how do these MLB total picks work?

In this example, all listed MLB picks sources favor the over. Among the listed sportsbooks, the best odds for over 8.5 can be found at Bovada, where over 8.5 is -110. That means that over 8.5 (-110 at Bovada) is the consensus total pick for this matchup.

Run Line Picks

Lastly, you can find MLB run line picks for all of today’s games on this page. The run line in baseball works like the point spread in the NFL, NBA, WNBA, or college basketball and like the puck line in the NHL.

How does MLB run line betting work?

The run line in baseball works like the point spread in the NFL, NBA, WNBA, or college basketball and like the puck line in the NHL. If the favorite wins by a certain number of runs, they cover the run line. If the underdog wins outright or loses by a certain number of runs, they cover the run line. Most run lines are -1.5/+1.5, so if the favorite wins by two or runs when they run line is -1.5, they cover, and if the underdog wins outright or loses by one run when the run line is +1.5, they cover.

Using the Phillies-Braves matchup, here is how run line betting shakes out.

  • Because the Braves are favored but not by a wide margin, they will be -1.5 on the run line, while the Phillies will be +1.5 on the run line.
  • If the Braves win by two or more runs, any run line bets on Braves -1.5 will win.
  • If the Phillies win outright or lose by one run, any run line bets on the Phillies will win.

So, how do these MLB run line picks work?

In this example, 60% of our MLB picks sources back the Braves to cover the run line and win by two or more runs. The best Braves run line odds are at BetOnline, where Atlanta -1.5 is available at +155 odds. Therefore, Braves -1.5 (+155 at BetOnline) will be listed as the recommended run line pick for this matchup.

Other Types of MLB Picks

MLB Hitter Prop Picks

Hitter props are one of the types of MLB prop picks. Most hitter props are over/under bets. Some types of hitter props include home run props, RBI props, hit props, runs scored props, stolen bases props, total bases props, and combination options.

If you are familiar with betting on the NBA, you will know of points + rebounds + assists player props or combination options that involve two of the three (points + rebounds, points + assists, rebounds + assists). The MLB player prop equivalent of the NBA P + R + A prop is the hits + runs + RBI prop.

For example, if the Yankees are playing the Orioles tonight, Aaron Judge’s hits + runs + RBI prop may be over/under 2.5. That means if Judge’s only hit of the game is a solo home run, the over will hit because a solo home run is a hit, a run scored, and an RBI all in one.

Many websites, social media accounts, and handicapping services provide MLB hitter prop picks. At Betting News, our content team provides MLB hitter prop picks for many top matchups throughout the week.

MLB Pitcher Prop Picks

Pitcher props are the other type of MLB player props you will find at many sports betting sites that offer MLB odds.

As is the case with hitter props, pitcher props are largely over/under bets. Types of MLB pitcher props include strikeout props, outs recorded props, hits allowed props, and earned runs allowed props.

And as with MLB hitter props, many websites, social media accounts, and handicapping services provide MLB pitcher prop picks, with strikeout props gaining in popularity in recent years. At Betting News, our content team provides MLB pitcher prop picks for many top matchups throughout the week.

MLB Team Prop Picks

When many bettors think of prop bets, they think of player prop bets, no matter the sport.

But many sportsbooks also offer various team and game props. Perhaps the most popular MLB team or game props are NRFI props (NRFI = no run in the first inning).

Some other types of MLB game props include “Who will score first?” props, total runs + hits + errors props, and margin of victory props. For example, if you think that the Dodgers are going to defeat the Giants handily tonight, you can bet on them to win by four or more runs at BetOnline.

MLB Parlay Picks

Parlays are a great way to bet on multiple MLB games or betting markets.

If you are confident in all of your picks for tonight’s MLB games, you can put them all together in a parlay. Or if there are a few picks that you have an interest in but you don’t want to bet on all of them, a parlay is a way to get in on the action without spreading your bankroll across a bunch of bets.

All the MLB picks on this page are individual picks, but you can put together multiple picks that you find here to make an MLB parlay.

Also, you can often find MLB parlay picks among the MLB predictions and betting analysis provided by our content team, whether on the site, our Betting News Twitch streams, or one of the Betting News social media channels.

MLB Futures Picks

If you’re looking to invest in the long game and not just in tonight’s games, betting on MLB futures odds is another way to bet on MLB picks.

During the MLB season and in the offseason, you can bet on futures markets like World Series odds, Cy Young Award odds, AL & NL MVP odds, AL & NL Rookie of the Year odds, and regular season win total odds.

At Betting News, we cover MLB futures odds regularly. Over the course of long season, futures picks and odds can and will fluctuate significantly. That is based on team and player performances, injuries, and the inevitable breakouts, disappointments, and other twists and turns that occur over the course of a season, whether in the NFL, MLB, WNBA, or even individual sports like tennis and golf.

Why Are MLB Picks Useful?

If you have an interest in betting on baseball or would like to learn to bet on baseball, one of the most important pieces of advice you might receive is to do your research.

Knowing teams, players, and types of bets, being aware of relevant betting trends and stats, and having trustworthy information and opinions to support that research can significantly boost your chances of success, whether you are betting on sports online or in person at a casino.

Finding reliable MLB computer picks from sources that have a track record of success or reading MLB expert picks that come with analysis that is informative and knowledgeable can help your decision-making when it comes to opting to make or pass on a pick.

The MLB consensus picks found here are all from such sources. Will they be right 100% of the time? They won’t be.

Will you side with them 100% of the time? There’s a good chance that you will choose the other side, even when percentages favor the side you don’t choose.

But the intent for these picks is for them to serve as a supplement to your research, whether you are looking to bet on MLB moneyline picks, MLB total picks, or MLB run line picks.

For example, the New York Yankees are taking on the Baltimore Orioles tonight in a pivotal AL East matchup. You like the over for the game, and all the listed MLB picks sources favor the over. Because numerous reputable sources are on the same side as you are, you may feel even more confident about locking in your over pick.

Should You Buy MLB Picks?

All picks on this page are free MLB picks, and Betting News is just one of many places you free MLB picks and predictions. However, many sports handicappers and handicapping services sell MLB picks.

Are those MLB premium picks worth it?

We are not here to dissuade you from purchasing sports betting picks. In fact, there are several places we recommend if you are looking for where to buy premium sports picks. Premium sports picks can be a great way to supplement your research, and many sports handicappers and services offer valuable additional analysis behind the paywall.

That said, do tread carefully with any handicapper or handicapping service that mentions “100% guaranteed winner” or other similar phrases or buzzwords.

No human is going to win 100% of the time. No computer is going to win 100% of the time. Also, no betting system or strategy is going to win 100% of the time. If someone says that a pick is a 100% guaranteed winner, they are not being truthful. Does that mean that you should absolutely avoid them? No, but exercise extreme caution.

Also, it is important to weigh whether the cost of the pick(s) is worth it relative to your bankroll and potential betting stake.

For example, if your average stake is $75, paying $50 for a premium MLB pick for tonight’s Phillies vs Braves game may not be worthwhile.
