It’s been one heck of an offseason, and I cannot wait until May! The number of trades and signing that have happened has made for some insane WNBA Offseason News. The entire face of the league has change to an extent and we are in store for a ride this season.
Last season was already a treat with the way it played out. The rookie class was fantastic from Caitlin Clark to Angel Reese (and their drama lol). It will be great to see a healthy Cameron Brink this season playing alongside Rickea Jackson.
We’re going to go through some of the moves in a little more detail and also take a look at the odds for the next league champ. We have a list ready, but to name a few big names – Alyssa Thomas, Jewell Loyd and Kelsey Plum are all on new teams. Let’s check out the list:

Some of the moves we’ve seen this offseason.
This type of WNBA Offseason News is what I’m here for. I’m going to touch on a few of these trades and their significance to the team before we talk about the title odds.
DeWanna Bonner and Natasha Howard to the Indiana Fever

Natash Howard stands with Fever ownership and coaches at her signing.
Indiana became a whole new place for women’s basketball when Caitlin Clark was drafted. The Fever finished 20-20 last season and in 6th in the league, making the playoffs for the 1st time since 2016. They went all in this offseason, signing 2 of the biggest names.
Natasha Howard is a 3x WNBA Champion and former Fever player. She brings a lot of the table for this team, especially physicality. Howard is a former Defensive Player of the Year winner as well. She signed a 1-year deal worth $214,666 guaranteed.
Not only did they get Howard, but the Fever were also able to sign DeWanna Bonner. Bonner also brings championship experience with her, winning twice with the Connecticut Sun. She had played her whole career in Connecticut before this move. She also signed a 1-year deal with the team.
Caitlin Clark showed us she’s the real deal last season and now with all this fire power, the pressure will really be on. This team has immediately become a title contender from a team who had the last two #1 picks.
Jewell Loyd to the Aces and Kelsey Plum to the Sparks

Newly acquired Spark Kelsey Plum guards the Aces newest acquisition Jewell Loyd during an All-Star game.
There was a blockbuster 3-team trade that sent Jewell Loyd and the #13th pick in the 2025 draft to the Las Vegas Aces, Kelsey Plum and a 1st round draft pick to the Los Angeles Sparks and Seattle received the #2 pick in the 2025 draft.
Let’s get the easy part out of the way – Seattle is definitely the losers in this trade. Only thing that helps is that #2 pick could hopefully replace Loyd. Now Loyd, well she landed herself in one hell of a spot. She will now play alongside A’ja Wilson and Chelsea Gray, who she just won Olympic Gold Medals with. Loyd will just assume Plum’s role in the lineup.
Now Kelsey Plum has landed herself in an interesting position. She goes from one of the best team to one of the worst teams, but there is some promise there. Dearica Hamby was a nice addition down low last season and the return of Cameron Brink will give them a lot of presence.
The Sparks now have the #9 pick in the draft which is still nice. Plum will have brink to dish the ball to and she will also mentor her being a veteran. She is also coming from a team where she played with a dominate big, so I’m sure she will have tips for Brink.
2025 WNBA Championship Title Odds
Now that we’ve touched on some of the WNBA Offseason News, let’s take a look at the current odds for the 2025 Championship Title. Let’s just touch on a few of the ones that stand out.
First off, not to harp on them, but the Fever were 24-1 last season for a long time and are currently sitting at just over 2-1! The moves they made so justify the line move, but crazy to see that they have the same odds as the last 2 league champs!
Some of the others I like are the Lynx at 4-1. They didn’t make any off season moves, but they were dominate last season. Napheesa Collier is a dog as well who should come in even sharper after playing in Unrivaled.
It’s crazy to look at this just one year last and see teams like the Sun at 75-1 and the Seattle Storm at 100-1. These are teams that have sat at the top of the league for some time, but it’s a new age for the WNBA and I can’t wait for this season!
