It was a lot of fun last season watching Caitlin Clark take over the league. Yes, I said it (sorry Angel Reese). Since the year has ended, the entire face of the Indiana Fever has changed. I have an entire Indiana Fever Season Preview for you.
Let’s just run back last year really quick. The team went 20-20, which was their best record since 2015, and they also made the playoffs for the 1st time since 2016. Other than Clark, the team had returned pretty much the same roster from the year prior.
Clark was drafted 1st overall, which was the Fever’s 2nd year with the #1 pick. They took Aliyah Boston the year prior, who is a key core member of this team and clicked with Clark immediately. These 2 did as they would say, “put butts in seats”.
The Fever were only 12-8 at home last season, but they sold out just about every game. Clark brings the fans out and it is so important for the growth of the WNBA. Indiana averaged over 16,000 tickets sold per game, almost double the average for non-Fever games.
Let’s now talk about this coming season. The Fever went all in this off season and catapulted to the top the of league as a major title contender. The 2 big moves that we’re going to talk about is the signings of DeWanna Bonner and the return of Natasha Howard.
Bonner leaves the Sun to sign 1-year deal with the Fever

Newly signed forward DeWanna Bonner at her Fever introduction.
The 37-year-old, 2x WNBA Champion has joined the Fever. Bonner comes from the Connecticut Sun after 5 years with them. She is 4th all time in scoring in WNBA history and a 6-time WNBA All Star. In her own words, she came here “to win”.
From her height to her wingspan, Bonner is extremely hard to guard. She has so much experience in this league and is one of the elite scorers in the league’s history. She brings so much to the table for this thriving Fever team. Bonner will help create openings for Clark as well as Clark dishing it down low to her.
I expect Bonner to come in and have an immediate impact. Players like Kelsey Mitchell and Aliyah Boston are also going to benefit tremendously from her. This is an all-around absolutely monster signing for a team looking to grow.
Like I mentioned before – the Fever didn’t stop at Bonner.
Natasha Howard makes her return to Indiana on 1-year deal

Natasha Howard smiles for the cameras as she is announced at the Fever press conference.
Natasha Howard has returned to Indiana. The 3x WNBA Champ brings champion experience along with Bonner. Howard was drafted 5th overall by the Fever in the 2014 draft. The star also has Most Improved Player and Defensive Player of the year under her belt.
It’s going to be a lot of fun watching her bully down low. This Fever team already moves the ball at a fast pace, so now with a tough down low option – things could get feisty. Howard will also reunite with new Fever Head Coach Stephanie White, who was an assistant coach in Howard’s rookie season.
This could finally all becoming together for Indiana. Two back-to-back bonified stars from #1 picks and now two huge off-season signings. It’s been a decade since they were taken seriously, and this year will be different. The Fever are already +240 to win it all, which are the same odds as the Aces and Liberty!
