It’s the second game of the season for these two teams and both are looking for their first wins. The Las Vegas Aces will take on the Connecticut Sun at the Mohegan Sun Arena. Let’s recap each team’s opening game and get into the Aces vs Sun picks.
Las Vegas drew the defending champs on their home court for their opener. The Liberty won the game 92-78 but there were plenty of good points for the Aces. A’ja Wilson had her first 30/10 game of the season finishing with 31 points and 16 rebounds.
Returning stars Jackie Young and Chelsea Gray contributed all around, both scoring double digit points and adding multiple rebounds and assists. These two ladies are core players along with Wilson from their championship wins.
Newcomer Jewell Loyd had a rough debut with the Aces. She shot 2-for-10 from the field, finishing with just 5 points, 4 rebounds, and 2 assists. For the player we know, these are extremely low numbers, but it was her first game with the team so she probably needs to shake off some jitters.

New look Sun team competed well and almost won their 1st game

Connecticut Sun bench celebrates after getting a big and 1 call after a basket.
The Sun played a decent game vs. the Mystics on Sunday. They led at certain points of the game and eventually were outscored in the 4th quarter. Tina Charles had a big game with 23 points and 10 rebounds. Olivia Nelson-Ododa had a nice outing with 18 points and 8 rebounds. Remember that name as she may become a major contributor to this offense.
Marina Mabrey didn’t play well last game. She shot 5-of-21, including 1-of-8 from 3-point range and that’s just gross. She’s going to look for a bounce back as that is not a normal game for her. These three players carried the team but will need help again from Lindsay Allen and Jacy Sheldon who both had 11 points off the bench.
I think this Sun team has potential. They’re still missing the No. 7 pick in this year’s draft Aneesah Morrow, who has crazy potential. She just averaged 20/10 in her last year with LSU and could gain a big role on this rebuilding team. Let’s check out the odds and get into the picks.

I think we’re going to see a good, old fashion beatdown here. Vegas is coming off a not-so-nice win from the defending champs and this is a perfect get right spot for them. This team outmatches the Sun everywhere, but experience is the main thing.
Connecticut is extremely young and in the middle of a rebuild after losing their veterans. Two of their rookies are currently still out with injuries, but let’s hope we see them soon. Morrow is going to be someone we keep an eye out for like I mentioned before.
In this game, give me A’ja everything. Give me her points at over 26.5 for -110. Great value there since she just put up 31 on a much better Liberty team. The Sun really only have Tina Charles to control her and it’s going to be a tough task. I also like her rebound line for over 11.5 at -132. It’s juiced but I think she gets 15+ again.
I think we see a bounce back for Jewell Loyd too. She’s a dominate player when cooking and this could be a great game for her to go off. We’re taking her over 15.5 points for -110. She can easily put up 20 without a problem with no one to really hold her down.
