Stars vs Golden Knights NHL Predictions & Picks (12/6)
Tonight’s matchup marks the first Stars vs. Golden Knights clash since Round 1 of the 2023-24 NHL playoffs. The Western Conference juggernauts went the distance in their series, ending with Dallas picking up a 2-1 win in Game 7 to send Vegas home packing.
Fast forward to now when both clubs are among the conference’s top teams. The Golden Knights currently lead the Pacific Division and are only one point out of the conference’s top spot while the Stars sit third in the Central and fifth in the West.
The Golden Knights head into tonight’s matchup with a bit of momentum, having improved to 6-2 SU in their last eight games with Wednesday’s 4-1 victory over the Anaheim Ducks. Vegas has now only allowed one goal in its last 120 minutes of action, leaving time to tell if that streak can continue against one of the NHL’s best offenses tonight.
On the flip side, the Stars are hoping to get back on track following a 3-2 loss to the Los Angeles Kings two nights ago. Although the outcome was disappointing, it’s worth noting that Dallas was on a three-game win streak before losing and has only lost consecutive outings once in its last 14 games.
Do the Stars have what it takes to bounce back from their latest loss?
There’s a good chance that we could see plenty of offense at T-Mobile Arena tonight. As previously mentioned, these teams own two of the league’s top offenses as the Stars currently average the ninth-most goals while the Golden Knights rank seventh in that regard. Vegas does own the advantage on the power play, though, cashing in on 26.6% of its man-advantage opportunities (5th) while Dallas only owns an 18.8% success rate (21st).
Having said that, it’s the opposite on the penalty kill as the Stars sit fifth while the Golden Knights come in at 21st.
When it comes to goaltending, it’ll be interesting to see which version of Jake Oettinger the Stars will get tonight. While the veteran netminder is 7-2-0 with a .921 save percentage and 2.24 goals-against average in his last nine games, he’s recorded a SV% of .848 or worse in two of his last four starts.
Meanwhile, the Golden Knights’ Adin Hill will likely return in the crease after shutting the Edmonton Oilers out on Dec. 3. Hill has been playing phenomenally lately, backstopping his way to a 5-1-1 record with a .935 SV% and 1.70 GAA in his last seven appearances.
Golden Knights G Adin Hill has led his team to plenty of success lately.
Even though the Stars won four of the five previous meetings between these teams, I’m predicting a Golden Knights victory tonight.
The Stars are coming off a loss whereas the Golden Knights have won back-to-back outings. Vegas has also been terrific at home, going 10-3 SU at T-Mobile Arena this season, which isn’t great news for Dallas as it has dropped three of its last four road games. With Hill also on a roll between the pipes, the Golden Knights are the right pick to win tonight.
With that in mind, there’s I love the plus-money that comes with backing the Golden Knights on the moneyline.

Best Stars vs Golden Knights NHL Player Prop (12/6)
Sticking with the plus-money trend, I’m going with Jack Eichel o3.5 shots on goal (+122) for tonight’s best Stars vs. Golden Knights player prop bet.
Even though his shot totals have been all over the place this season, Eichel has now hit the Over on this prop in two of his last three games — finishing with exactly five SOG each time. The former 2015 second-overall pick is now back at T-Mobile Arena where the Over is 6-2 in his last eight home games. There’s a good chance that trend will continue given that the Stars allow the 12th-most SOG to centers this season.
Matchups with the Stars tend to bring out the best in Eichel, who’s averaging 3.9 SOG in his last 10 meetings with Dallas, finishing with the Over seven times along the way.
Best Stars vs. Golden Knights Player Prop Bet: Jack Eichel o3.5 Shots on Goal (+122)
