Oilers vs Wild NHL Predictions & Picks (12/12)
Will one of these teams play in the June Stanley Cup Final? BetOnline seems to think so as the sportsbook is currently favoring the Oilers to win the Western Conference Finals (+375) while the Central-leading Wild sit sixth (+800).
We’ve already seen these foes clash once this season, resulting in a 5-3 win for the Wild at Rogers Arena on Nov. 21. The Oilers never led beyond the first period as the Wild’s offensive charge was led by Frederick Gaudreau, who finished the night with two goals and an assist.
The victory wasn’t nothing new for a Minnesota club now 11-2 SU across its last 13 meetings with Edmonton. Even though the Oilers are the home team this time around, that might not matter much considering how the Wild are 6-0 SU with a plus-2.3 average goal margin. Time will tell if the Oilers can earn their first win in St. Paul, MN since February 2019.
Although Edmonton has won six of its last nine road games this season, it’s worth noting that Minnesota is on a three-game win streak at Xcel Energy Center.
Do the Oilers have what it takes to defeat the Wild in enemy territory tonight?
It’ll be interesting to see if the Oilers can continue their newfound momentum on the road tonight. Not only are they 6-1 SU in their last seven outings, but Tuesday’s 2-1 win over the Tampa Bay Lightning also marked their third consecutive victory. Leon Draisaitl scored the game-winning goal and added an assist on the night, giving him six points in his last three games.
Meanwhile, the Wild are also 6-1 SU in their last seven outings following a 5-4 shootout win against the Utah Hockey Club two nights ago. That effort was on the road, though, and now Minnesota is returning home where it’s held five of its last six opponents to two or fewer goals.
The Wild are counting on goaltender Filip Gustavsson to keep that trend going. The Swedish puck-stopper has been red-hot and has only finished one of his last 12 outings with a sub-.900 save percentage, going 8-2-2 with a .935 SV%, 1.89 goals-against average, and two shutouts along the way.
As for the Oilers, Stuart Skinner has played to mixed results lately with a .904 SV% and 2.41 GAA in his last 10 games. At the same time, the 26-year-old netminder’s play has improved with each passing game as he’s recorded a SV% of .935 or better in each of his last five starts — all wins for the Oilers.
Oilers G Stuart Skinner is on a five-game win streak.
As both teams have been playing well, I’m predicting a Wild win tonight. After all, the Wild have been one of the NHL’s best clubs throughout the season and have completely been dominating the Oilers, who haven’t won at Xcel Energy Center in nearly six years. I just don’t see that skid ending, especially as long as Minnesota is getting some of the league’s best goaltending performances.
With that in mind, taking the Wild on the moneyline makes a ton of sense this evening.

Best Oilers vs Wild NHL Player Prop (12/12)
I feel fairly confident in recommending Leon Draisaitl o2.5 shots on goal (-113 on SportsBetting) for the best Oilers vs. Wild player prop bet of the night.
As usual, Draisaitl has excelled at generating offensive opportunities lately. The German forward is averaging 3.1 SOG in his last nine outings, finishing six of those games with at least three shots on target — including when he accomplished the feat vs. the Lightning on Tuesday. I expect the Over to be hit again considering how he already registered three SOG against the Wild last month.
With both sides needing their best players to step up this evening, look for Draisaitl to lead by example.
Best Oilers vs. Wild Player Prop Bet: Leon Draisaitl o2.5 Shots on Goal (-113)
