We have a battle of the bottom feeders up in Canada tonight. The San Jose Sharks will take on the Montreal Canadians at the Bell Centre. These 2 teams faced off a few weeks ago and it was a great game ending in a 4-3 Montreal win.
San Jose is in the middle of their rebuild and it may be coming together. Don’t get me wrong, they’re still 15-36-8 and last in the Pacific Division, but they’re fun to watch! The Sharks are currently on a 6-game losing streak and are 2-7-1 in their last 10 games.
The reason they’re fun to watch is because of their young squad and Macklin Celebrini is all he was cracked up to be. The #1 pick in this past draft leads his team in points with 42. He has 18 goals and 24 assists so far this season.
This young core of Celebrini, Will Smith and William Eklund are all the future of this franchise. Right now, they have a lot of work to do as they’re in the bottom of the league is most offensive and defensive categories, but these kids have time.
Goalie Vitek Vanecek is expected in net. He’s 3-9-3 this season with a 3.87 GAA and a .882 save percentage. Vanecek has only played 3 games since returning from injury and he’s 0-1-2.
Canadians will try to make it 3 in a row vs the Sharks

Montreal Canadians Cole Caufield celebrates scoring a goal.
The Canadians are 27-26-5 this season and are 7th in the Atlantic Division. They are coming off a huge 4-0 win over the Hurricanes on Tuesday night and have won back-to-back games. Montreal has scored 9 goals in the 2 games back since break.
Montreal’s offense isn’t the worst but definitely needs some work. They’re 15th in goals scored, but 30th in shots on goal per game. Even though there is a lack of shots, they rank 6th in shooting percentage, so they’re making them count.
Cole Caufield is the center of this team. Kid is having himself a great year after losing most of his season last year to injury. He has 27 goals and 24 assists for 51 points. This is another young team in a rebuild. Guys like Suzuki, Hutson and Slafkovsky make for a bright future.
Defensively, this team is in shambles. They rank 5th worst for goals allowed and 21st for shots on goal allowed per game. Goaltender Sam Montembeault is expected to start. He’s 20-21-3 this season with a 2.90 GAA and a .899 save percentage. He does have 4 shutouts to note (insert eyeball emoji).

I’m going with the young guns. It doesn’t matter home or away, the Sharks just the same, but I like them here. It’s the 2nd game of their Canadian road trip and they almost just beat one of the best teams in the league. More importantly, they competed well vs the best goalie in the league.
On paper the Canadians are the better team, but something has to give with the Sharks right now. They looked great against the Jets considering they played the Jets too. I like for them to compete and find the back of the net. If they can score early, they just need to put the foot on the pedal from there.
I have to go with the kid for my props. Give me Celebrini to record 4 or more shots on goal for +132. He hit this in the last game vs the Habs. His attempts have been down, but he did have 6 shots on goal just 2 games ago. I also like for him to record a point and 2 points. The 1 point will probably be around -150 and the 2 or more points should be +200 or more.
