The New York Islanders are on their 2nd game of a road trip and will take on the Vegas Golden Knights. Vegas has been on fire this season, while not so much for New York. This will be the 1st time they play each other this season.

New York is 15-18-7 this season and last in the Metro Division. They come into this game off a win over the Bruins Sunday but are 4-6-0 in their last 10 games. The Isles play pretty much the same on the road as they do at home.

Just like back to seasons of the past, the Islanders offense is nowhere to be found. They rank in the bottom of the league for goals scored per game but do put up a good number of shots per game. Their power play is the worst in the league and their shooting percentage is 3rd worst.

On defense, they have become very weak over the years when it was their strong point. The Islanders allow the 9th most goals allowed and are 17th in shots on goal allowed per game. Like their power play, the Isles are dead last in penalty kill.

Goalie Ilya Sorokin is expected in net tonight. He has a 12-13-4 record with a 2.92 GAA and a .898 save percentage. It’s been a rough go for Sorokin with no Varlamov and it won’t get easier tonight.

The Knights have been more than fun to watch this season. They’re 28-9-3 this season and 1st in the Pacific Division. Vegas is currently on a 3-game winning streak and are 9-1-0 in their last 10 games.

This team is so good at home, with a 17-4-0 record. It should be not a problem for this offense to get going. The Knights rank 4th in the league for both goals scored and shots on goal per game. They are also tied for 6th in both power play and shooting percentages.

On defense, they are just as good. This team ranks 5th in the league for goals allowed and 12th for shots on goal allowed per game. They don’t have the best penalty kill, but on the flip side, they commit the least number of penalties in the league.

Goalie Adin Hill is expected to get the start. He is 17-6-2 this season with a 2.58 GAA and a .904 save percentage. The Islanders shouldn’t be too much of a test for him. Let’s check out the odds and get into the picks.

Well, there’s no surprise who I’m taking here. This should be an easy one for the Knights and especially at home. I even like for them to win this game by more than 2 goals.

This Vegas offense is such a powerhouse and this Islanders defense has no answer for it. The Isles have a good goalie in net, but he can only do so much. I expect Sorokin to get peppered in this game, so we’ll be taking the over on his saves.

The lack of offense from the Islanders will be the other reason why the Knights will roll.

I like for Jack Eichel to record 1+ point and 3+ shots on goal in this game. Eichel is averaging 1 assist per game over the last 12 games. He also has recorded 3+ shots on goal in his last 5 games and last 7 out of 10 games.
