See Picks & Statistics For The GameWe’re headed to Raleigh for Games 3 and 4, and we’re all tied up at 1 game apiece. The Washington Capitals took Game 2 back at home over the Carolina Hurricanes by a score of 3-1. This was a must win and they handled it perfectly, never trailing.
Carolina did their job on the road by securing a road win. Not only did they get the win, but they held down the Capitals offense to only 14 shots. Last game, both teams were pretty even and then the Canes poured it on in the 3rd period. In the end, it wasn’t enough.
Shayne Gostisbehere had the lone goal for the Canes in the 3rd period. It brought them within 1 goal, but they couldn’t tie the game up. Like I mentioned, they even turned it up in the 3rd period with 17 shot attempts, but Washington’s Thompson was a wall.
Goalie Freddie Andersen will get the start in Game 3 for the Canes. He had a break in Game 1 but was put to work in Game 2. Andersen stopped 18 of the 20 shot attempts against him and should expect to see the sort of volume as games 1 and 2.
Washington will look to steal one in Carolina after getting big win

Capitals offensive players Connor McMichael and Brandon Duhaime celebrate after scoring a goal.
The Game 2 victory at home Thursday night was a must win for the Caps. It will be tough going into Carolina, so having the series tied up helps a lot. But, considering they’re division rivals, they’ve played here plenty.
Offense is the issue right now for Washington. They only put up 14 shots on goal in Game 1 and 21 in Game 2. These types of numbers don’t cut it come playoff time. The Caps aren’t finding the back of the net too much either, only scoring 3 goals this series on the goalie (1 last game was an empty net, so not counting it).
This team could really benefit from Alex Ovechkin coming to life. Ovi hasn’t got on the board yet and has only 4 shots on goal so far. If he can get going, he will spark the rest of this team and that would give them the boost to get past Carolina without a problem.
Goalie Logan Thompson played well last game. He has a 1.50 GAA and a .950 save percentage these last 2 games. Thompson has faced a fair number of shots each game, so he’s being tested. Let’s check out the odds and get into the picks.

Now going into a new barn, there will be an adjustment in the playoff atmosphere. I think we see another hard fought, close game like we did in Game 1. Washington was in it the whole game, even without being heavy on offense, but the Canes got it done. I see the same thing happening here.
There is no value on the moneyline at -192, but I also think the Canes get this one done in 60 minutes. The home ice advantage will kick in and if they can keep holding the Caps to 20 shots a game, their chances increase tremendously.
From some player props, it’s kind of hard with these 2 teams. No one has been consistent these playoffs for either team and the things that have been hitting are super juiced. Connor McMichael to record 1 point is +136 and looks tasty. He hit last game and his last 5 out of 6 games.
The other play I like is the game total under 5.5 goals. These 2 teams keep grinding it out and I think we see more of the same. This style of hockey that they’re playing is what makes betting on the player props so difficult.
