See Picks & Statistics For The GameWe’re headed to the bright lights and big city that is LA for the 1st game of a back-to-back. Tonight, the St. Louis Blues head out West to take on the Los Angeles Kings. These 2 teams just played each other a few days ago and the Blues won 4-1.
The Kings are 31-20-8 this season and 3rd in the Pacific Division. They’re currently on a 4-game losing streak and just went winless on a 3-game road trip. Luckily for them, they are back on home ice where they have a record of 19-3-3.
Los Angeles’ offense has been somewhat missing this season. For a team that used to be so offense heavy, they only rank 20th in goals scored and 19th for shots on goal allowed. Their power play is terrible, ranking 3 worst in the league.
Their defense is top notch though. They rank 6th in goals allowed and 2nd in shots on goal allowed per game. The Kings penalty kill is 8th best in the league and that’s really good considering they commit about 4 penalties per game.
Goaltender Darcy Kuemper is expected in goal. He has a 18-8-6 record with a 2.38 GAA and a .910 save percentage. Kuemper did not play a few days ago, so he will be a new test for the Blues.
St. Louis look to bounce back after tough loss to Dallas

Blues defenseman Colton Parayko celebrates after scoring a goal.
The Blues are 29-27-6 this year and 5th in the Central Division. They come into this game off a loss but are 6-2-2 in their last 10 games. St. Louis plays the same at home and on the road as they’re just about .500 for both.
As expected, they rank towards the bottom of the league offensively. They rank 20th for goals scored and 27th for shots on goal per game with a power play that is 22nd. This team wasn’t expected to be any sort of an offensive juggernaut so they’re holding their own considering.
On defense, they’re a little better. They rank 18th for goals allowed and 14th for shots on goal allowed per game. Their penalty kill is horrible though, 2nd worst in the league. The Blues, like the Kings, commit around 4 penalties per game so they spend some time on the kill.
Goalie Jordan Binnington is expected to start. He is 18-20-4 this season with a 2.81 GAA and a .899 save percentage. Binnington just completed his run with Team Canada in the 4 Nations Face off. Let’s check out the odds and get into the picks.

I really think we see some goals here. The Kings will be back home where they’re comfortable and should put up 3+ goals. Then the Blues have been playing good hockey in their last 10 games, and I think they do the same.
We’re getting good value as the books think this game will go under. I know the Kings have been slumping, but this is their get right spot. I think they come out and take care of business as well, but -165 was too much juice for me to drink.
The Kings defense should hold the Blues back a bit, but they couldn’t last game, so we could see the same. I like Jordan Kyrou to record 3 or more shots on goal. He had 7 in their last game, and I think he comes right back firing again.
Another play I’ll be eyeing is Darcy Kuemper’s save line. He saw over 30 shots on goal last game which he will probably see again. There should be a little more offense out of the Kings this game, but the Blues should be putting puck on net all game again.
