It’s the night before the trade deadline. Which means some players will be playing to go to the promised land, aka a playoff bound team. Other teams will be playing to prove to their GM they are making a playoff push. And for some teams in the thick of it, every game is a playoff game. The slate should be intense which means we can look for value up and down the slate and grab some NHL best bets at a discount! We are now a 40-38 record over the last 26 articles with a positive unit size due to plenty of plus money plays cashing. Let’s snip some coupons and get some more green NHL player props!
We will be breaking down NHL best bets here at Betting News all season! Each article will look for VALUE, as in straights you can take to build up your bankroll or pieces you can use to beef up your parlays. All bets will be -135 or better odds. And while we will focus on NHL player props, there are times we will take sides and totals. So keep your eyes peeled here as we will drop these throughout the week.
And if you haven’t already be sure to check out some of my favorite futures and awards. So time to lace them up and get ready to ride with Betzky for my favorite NHL best bets for 3/04/2025!
1. Thomas Harley Point -125 on BetOnline:

Thomas Harley is the defacto number one defenseman for the Dallas Stars
No Heiskanen, no problem. The Dallas Stars have been without their top defenseman since before the Four Nations break and the youngster Thomas Harley has stepped up in a big way. Over the last 10 games he has amassed 13 points. That is 35% of his point total for the entire season. He is absolutely flourishing with the expanded minutes and power play time.
In fact, his power play point has been a fantastic prop as well (+270). Over the last 10 games Harley has 7 power play points. This is indicated by his expansion in TOI (time on ice) as he is averaging over 25 minutes per game. When you are on the ice that much, there is a good chance you can get in on a goal. And that’s exactly why we are capitalizing on his discounted point prop.
The Calgary Flames will roll into the Lone Star state tonight, in the midst of a grueling roadtrip. They are allowing the 13th most goals against over the last 10 games. This will not bode well against a Stars team who are leading in goals for per game. The Stars are averaging a whopping 4.7 goals per game over the last 10. Add in Harley’s large amount of TOI and his role on the power play and this looks like an NHL best bet at a discount.

2. Shane Wright Point +110 on BetOnline:

Shane Wright has been red hot and so is his point prop
Shane Wright was widely considered the top pick of the 2022 NHL draft. However, his draft year performance caused him to slide to the 4th pick, something he did not take lightly. And while it has been a journey for Wright, it seems like he is finally figuring out the big league. Luckily for us, the sportsbooks have not caught on, meaning we can get a discounted point prop.
Over the last 20 games Wright has a point in 14 of them, or 70%. Over the last 10 games he has a point in 8 games with 12 points total. His pure goal scoring ability is shining with 5 goals in the last 10 games (+370 for a goal is fantastic value). Now the Kraken have just traded two of their better forwards, but this may lead to an increase in minutes for Wright, as his line is now considered the 2nd line.
He has found great chemistry with Jared McCann and his emergence has given the Kraken two deadly forward groups. To add a bow to this NHL best bet, tonight the Kraken will face a Nashville Predators team who have been struggling. Over the last 10 games Nashville are allowing the 3rd most goals against per game played. They are averaging 4.00 goals against (woof). This is a perfect spot for Wright to keep rolling, and his point prop at plus money is a deep discount.

3. Logan Cooley Point -110 on BetOnline:

Logan Cooley has been on a point tear making his point a best bet
The Utah Hockey Club could make a statement by making the playoffs in their first season in their new home. Just last night the team re-signed four upcoming UFA’s, indicating that they would rather push to make the playoffs than sell those expiring pieces. This should be a huge moral boost to the team, as the band will stay together. Tonight they will face off against another team pushing for the playoffs, the Detroit Red Wings.
Logan Cooley has turned some heads in his sophomore season. He is on a 71 point pace and three goals shy of his second 20+ goal season. He has moved his way up to centering the top forward line, and has been very productive with Clayton Keller. He has a point in 4 of the last 5 games, missing last game against the Jersey Devils. And while he is now on the 2nd power play unit, all but one of those five points came from even strength.
The Detroit Red Wings have been skidding a bit. They rank 8th in goals against per game over the last 10 games and have the 5th worst penalty kill in the league. In an order to stop the bleeding, the Red Wings will likely be starting Alex Lyon in net, who has been subpar all season. This is a prime spot for Utah to rack up some points both on the scoresheet and in the standings. Add it all up and Logan Cooley’s point looks like an NHL best bet.
