NHL Best Bets 2/4/2025

Only two more NHL Best Bets articles until the two week break, so we are going to look for the best of the best props that not only hold value but look like solid bets. Due to the length of the season, it seems like jumping on “last 5 game” trends may be the way to go, even if match ups don’t look spectacular. That means we will looks for hot lines, and players for our discounted props! Let’s find some “coupons” to get great deals. We are now a 33-33 record over the last 22 articles with a positive unit size due to plenty of plus money plays cashing. Let’s snip some coupons and get some more green NHL player props!

We will be breaking down NHL best bets here at Betting News all season! Each article will look for VALUE, as in straights you can take to build up your bankroll or pieces you can use to beef up your parlays. All bets will be -135 or better odds. And while we will focus on NHL player props, there are times we will take sides and totals. So keep your eyes peeled here as we will drop these throughout the week.

1. Sam Bennett o2.5 SOG +105 on BetOnline:

Not only has Sam Bennett hit his SOG (Shots on Goal) prop in 5 straight games, he has now hit it in 10 straight games. And yet we are still able to grab him for plus money. The books are banking on him to eventually miss here, and are trying to make his prop too tempting to not take. Well, I will happily take that discount and run with it.

While Bennett’s history against the Washington Capitals is not the best, there are other factors that go in our favor. He is averaging a whopping 7.1 shot attempts per game over his last 10 games. He’s been great on the road hitting in 62% of road games. And it seems like the Florida Panthers are really putting pedal to the metal right now.

The Panthers are averaging the 2nd most shots for over the last ten games, at about 34.4 per game. And while the Capitals are one of the toughest teams for shots against, I will trust these recent trends. Yes, this price is set as a “I dare ya” by the books, because at some point Bennett will need to miss. But with the Four Nations Faceoff around the corner I think Bennett is still an NHL best bet today.

2. Adam Fantilli o2.5 SOG +100 on BetOnline:

Ever since Columbus’s top center Sean Monahan went down with injury, Adam Fantilli has stepped it up. In a big way. Fantilli now has 9 points in his last 6 games. Of those points four of them are goals. Gotta shoot to score. And tonight the Blue Jackets will be with Norris leading defenseman Werenski and top goalscorer Marchenko. Another test for Fantilli.

Fanilli has been cranking in the shots department. He has hit his 2.5 SOG prop in 4 of the last 6 games, averaging 8.677 shot attempts in his last three games played. There are two reasons why we are getting his SOG prop at such a discounted price. First, he is a young player, as this is only his second season and he missed a majority of last year with an injury. And second is that he has only hit his SOG prop in 34% of games this year.

However, Fantilli has only moved up to the top line in the last 13 games. In those games he has hit his 2.5 SOG prop in 7 times. And tonight without two of the teams best offensive weapons it will be more critical for Fantilli to test the Buffalo Sabres. The Sabres are allowing the 8th most shots against in the league, making this an NHL best bet.

3. Brayden Point o2.5 SOG +105 on BetOnline:

Road vs home splits matter. And one player who is an absolute stud at home is Brayden Point of the Tampa Bay Lightning. He has hit his SOG prop in 68% of the 22 home games this year. Last season he was even better, hitting in 72% of all home games. On the road he has only hit his SOG prop 33% of the time. This is a major reason why Point’s SOGs will come at a discount after a long road trip.

Over the last ten games Point has hit his SOG prop five times. He is averaging 5.6 shot attempts per game, which climbs to 6.2 over his last 10 home games. Tonight he will be facing an Ottawa Senators team who is tough against shots, but that only gives us a deeper discount.

The Senators will be coming off a big win last night, their 5th in a row. They should be a bit tired, which could result in some sloppy play. This is great news for Point, who capitalizes his shots on the power play. The Senators also allow the 4th most power play opportunities to opponents over the last 10 games. Add this all up and it’s easy to see why Point’s SOGs are a best bet tonight.
