See Picks & Statistics For The GameWe’re headed to the hottest city in hockey right now! The Colorado Avalanche head to St. Louis to take on the red-hot Blues. The 2 teams played just last week, and the Blues won 2-1.
St. Louis is 42-28-7 and 4th in the Central Division. They’re currently on an 11-game winning streak and are 10-0-0 in their last 10 games. The Blue catapulted themselves right into the playoffs during this win streak. They hold the 1st Wild Card spot by 7 points currently.
This team is having all the right things come together at the right time. They rank 14th in goals scored and 28th in shots on goal per game, but that doesn’t matter right now. When a team catches fire like they have at this time of year – anything can happen.
The Blues don’t play bad defense at all. They rank 11th in goals allowed and 12th in shots on goal allowed per game. St. Louis does commit almost 4 penalties per game and rank 3rd worst in penalty kill, so they need to play smart hockey.
Veteran goaltender Jordan Binnington is expected to be in net. He is 26-21-4 this season with a 2.66 GAA and a .902 save percentage. Binnington has played in many big games, so he is completely fit for a big playoff run.
Colorado looks to continue their play right into the playoffs

Avalanche forward Nathan MacKinnon gets stopped by Blues goalie Jordan Binnington.
So far, the Avalanche are 47-26-4 this season and 3rd in the Central Division. Just the other night, they clinched their spot in the playoffs. Colorado is 7-2-1 in their last 10 games and 22-15-1 on the road this season. Their divisional record is 12-11-2 so they struggle a little bit.
As we know, this team is stacked on offense. They rank 5th in goals scored and shots on goal per game. Colorado is dangerous on the power play with all that talent and converts 25% of the time, 7th best in the league.
On defense, not much changes. Led by Cale Makar, the Avs defense ranks 10 in goals allowed and 3rd in shots on goal allowed per game. They play smart hockey, only committing just over 3 penalties per game and rank 15th in penalty kill.
Goalie Mackenzie Blackwood is expected in net. He is 28-16-6 this year with a 2.36 GAA and a .915 save percentage. Blackwood came over in a trade from the Sharks and has been killing it ever since. Let’s check out the odds and get into the picks.

I can’t pick against this Blues team right now. They are playing expectational hockey and it’s the right time of the year, so the drive is there. The fact that they already beat the Avs during this run says a lot.
The Blues also won that game in Colorado as well. Being in front of the home crowd is only going to gas them up more. I think it will be another close game, so I lean with the under 5.5 goals in the game as well. Binnington should be ready to go vs them again.
In this game, I like for Rob Thomas to record a point. It is super juiced, but you can pair it with Brock Nelson to record 2 or more shots on goal. He has a great history vs the Blues and just came off that miss last game. On the road, Nelson has recorded 5, 5, 3, and 4 in his last 4 road games vs the Blues.
I also like Binnington to get over his saves line. He recorded 28 saves last matchup and this Avs team knows how to fire the puck, which I expect them to do. The line should come out around 27-28 saves at -120.
