We’re in for a treat this year. The NHL has decided to do a new tournament in lieu of the traditional All-Star weekend. The 4 Nations Face Off starts tonight and we have you covered for all the Canada vs Sweden picks.

Just to bring you up to speed, the tourney consists of 4 countries – USA, Canada, Sweden and Finland. Each team will all play each other once (3 games). The winner of a game outright will get 3 points, a win in overtime or shootout will be 2 points, a loss in overtime or shootout will be 1 point and an outright loss will be 0 points.

The 1st game of the tournament is Canada vs Sweden tonight at the Bell Centre. Both of these teams, just like all 4 teams, are stacked from top to bottom. I actually think we’re going to see a really good game here because Sweden is sneaky good.

Canada has just a hall of fame roster from Connor McDavid to Nathan Mackinnon to the goat, Sidney Crosby. Their defense is stacked to the ceiling with guys like Cale Makar, Devon Toews and Josh Morrissey. Goalies Jordan Binnington and Adin Hill will be in between the pipes for Canada.

Team Sweden could be the team that surprises everyone

I really like this team’s roster from offense, defense to goalies. Like the rest of the countries, this team is bursting with talent. You have guys like Filip Forsberg and Adrian Kempe on offense. They have some sold role players like Joel Eriksson Ek, Jesper Bratt, and Lucas Raymond.

On defense, I think they may have the best defense of all the countries. Victor Hedman, Rasmus Dahlin, Gustov Forsling and Erik Karlsson to name a few. These pairings, regardless of who is with who, are going to be extremely dangerous.

Goalies Filip Gustavsson and Linus Ullmark are representing their country. It is looking like Gustavsson is going to get the start and he’s having a great year so far. Ullmark is returning from an injury but will be ready to go when called upon.

I think we see some loose hockey being played. The offenses on both these teams really make me feel like we see a lot of goal. Even a good goalie, how can you stop McDavid, Mackinnon and Crosby all together? Simple – you can’t.

Since I like for goals to be scored, that means I like a lot of player props. First one is William Nylander to get 3+ shots on goal for -113. Willie is a known shooter and has been firing. This value is insane for him and you will continue to see that trend.

My next pick is Sidney Crosby to record 1+ points for -138. We’re going to pay the juice man a little here like we are with the total, but it will be worth it. The captain is going to be the center of all of this for Team Canada as this may be the last time Sid plays in something like this.

For a goal scorer, I like Adrian Kempe for +330. He is playing on a line with Filip Forsberg and Kempe is a known sniper as well. The value we are getting right now on all these props is fantastic and we have to take advantage before they change!
