See Picks & Statistics For The GameThe NHL unleashes their Frozen Frenzy tonight with 16 games tonight all staggered throughout the evening. And have no fear, I’ve got you covered for the final game on the slate, the late night puck drop in Sin City, as the Vegas Golden Knights host the Los Angeles Kings in an early season Pacific Division showdown.
The visiting Kings currently sit at 3-1-2 on the season and are 2nd in the Pacific division. Believe it or not, this team has not yet played a game at home. This is the final stop on a 12 day, 7 game roadtrip to start the season from Los Angeles, before they head home for a couple games in California. Now, the final game of a road trip can always be tricky, especially knowing they will be home late tonight after the game sleeping in their own beds. Starting the season on the road for two weeks can take a toll on the body, but on the other hand, they could be extremely fired up to finish strong before heading home. The Kings have won their last two games by a score of 4-1 each, and have only lost in regulation once to Toronto.
As for the Vegas Golden Knights, this team needs a win badly.
They started the season with three straight wins at home, but immediately lost their next three in their opening roadtrip on the East Coast. The Capitals, Lightning, and defending Stanley Cup Champion Panthers all beat the Golden Knights and sent them packing. Now Vegas is back at home for four straight contests, where they were clearly a much better team last season. Do we trust them to stop this skid at home? Or will the Kings be able to finish off their road trip with a bang?

Can Golden Knights Stop the Losing Skid?
Last season, the Golden Knights were so much better at home. They won 27 games in Sin City compared to winning just 18 on the road last year. And so far this season, it seems to be the same. The Vegas Golden Knights are 3-0 at home this year and 0-2-1 on the road. Being back at home tonight is a huge advantage for them, and I see it coming into play.
As I mentioned above, this is the 7th game of a road trip for the Los Angeles Kings. They’ve been on the road for 2 straight weeks, have played six games without being home, and are very close to being back. But before then, they have to play one more game in a hostile environment. The Kings finished ahead of VGK last year, but still lost 2/3 games they faced. Sure, both teams have a much different roster, but we are going to be in for quite the thriller.
Vegas is off an extra day of rest, as Los Angeles had to play Sunday night, taking down the Ducks, but I’m more focused on these goal tenders. Adin Hill hasn’t been very good this season, allowing 3.81 goals per contest and saving only 85% of shots faced. Ilya Samsonov has been better between the posts for VGK, saving 93% of shots and allowing just 2.41 GA/A, but the Knights probably send out Hill tonight.
As for the Kings, David Rittich is expected and allows less than 2.36 goals per game while saving 89.3% of shots. But, like I said, I could be a bit worried about the Kings looking ahead to the end of this roadtrip and giving their bodies some much needed rest. I do heavily lean with the Knights tonight, but I’ll put my coin elsewhere.
Los Angeles Kings vs Vegas Golden Knights Best Bets
Kings vs Golden Knights Prediction: Golden Knights Win 4-2 (+1400)
Best Bets: Jack Eichel Assist (-114) BetOnline
Eichel is off to a screaming start for the Knights with 10 total points, 8 of those being assists. He averages over 21 minutes on the ice, leading all offensive skaters on the team, and his line is doing a greta job at producing chances. The Golden Knights top line of Barbashev-Eichel-Stone skates for 2.46 expected goals per 60 minutes and leads the team in expected Goals for their offensive lines. This game, Vegas is switching up their defensive pairings, which should give Eichel more freedom on offense to find his teammates.
That trio is responsible for almost 35% of the teams goals this year, and nearly half their assists. They combine for 27 of the team’s 62 total points this year, and I trust the Knights offense to show up since they are back at home. Give me Vegas to score plenty and for Eichel to find his teammates for one of them!
