The Colorado Avalanche forced Game 7 and now they face off against the Dallas Stars down in Texas. This is one of two NHL Series to go the distance in the first round of matchups, and now we are blessed with the best contest in all of sports: Game 7.

This series has really gone back and forth constantly. The Avalanche won Game 1 very easily, beating the Stars 5-1 in Dallas. However the hosts got their revenge in Game 2. It took overtime to do so, but the Stars came out on top 4-3. Then the series moved to Denver, and again, Dallas took another game in extra time. It was a low scoring affair, as the Stars won 2-1, just five minutes into OT to take a 2-1 series lead.

That woke up the beast, as Colorado came out screaming in Game 4, shutting out their visitors and winning 4-0 to tie things up. The Avs totaled 48 shots on net, only allowing 23 from their opponent. The Stars came alive in Game 5, as Jake Oettinger stopped 26/28 shots as Dallas retook the lead in the series with a 6-2 home win. With their backs against the wall, Colorado stepped up to the challenge.

The Avalanche, once again, dominated the Stars at home. They beat them 7-4, outshooting them 48-26 on Thursday in Game 6. Thus, forcing the matchup we have tonight. Who will close out this series?

I have been on the Avalanche to win this series from the get-go, and even like them to hoist the Stanley Cup. Despite some losses, they have been right there in 5/6 games of this series, whereas Dallas cannot say the same. I’d like to think the hockey higher beings help them get a win on the road tonight and advance to the Western Conference Semifinals.

Full transparency, I booked the ML at 8:00 this morning at (-135) before it steamed up 30 cents. However, I do endorse in regulation now, and I took a good hard look at the PL as well. I don’t think we will be relying on an empty netter, as the Avs close this out tonight in dominant fashion.

Colorado was eight minutes away from winning Game 3, before the Stars tied things up and ended it in OT. They were nine minutes away from doing the same thing in Game 2, gifting two games to their opponents. This series should be over. Colorado should’ve never faced elimination in Game 6, and after extending their season once, I like them to do it again.

They have outshot the Stars in three straight games, and in the two wins it hasn’t even been close. Oettinger can only handle so much, and I think the Avalanche test him as much as they possibly can tonight. I lean with the over as well, which benefits the Avs in my opinion, as the only way Dallas wins this is if 1) They contain the Avalanche attack, and 2) Jake Oettinger has an incredible night between the posts.

I don’t think either happens as Colorado has averaged 35.6 SOGs this series, and 41.3 SOGs in their last three, way up from their season average of just 29.9. Give me the Avalanche to win this one tonight.
