Team USA will take on Team Canada at TD Gardens tonight to decide the winner of the tournament. USA beat Canada in their matchup Saturday night by 3-1. The game opened with fireworks as 3 fights broke out in the first 9 seconds.
USA has looked dominate this tournament but has taken a beating. Some players sat out last game to rest up for the Finals, which include Matthew Tkachuk, Auston Matthews and Charlie McAvoy. Brady Tkachuk didn’t play the 3rd period of USA’s last game, but nothing major has been reported. McAvoy will not play in tonight’s game.
Canada’s play this tournament has been great, but their defense hasn’t been the best. They’ve allowed 3 goals in all 3 games played, all with Jordan Binnington in between the pipes.
During the tournament, Canada has been able to put up goals against everyone but the US. They really need to find a way to use all that talent to move the puck around and make opportunities. Canada also needs to play better defense to give their goalie a better chance.

Well guys, bias or not – it’s the United States of America winning this one. They have looked from start to finish absolutely hungry (and maybe a little angry) in the games that mattered. I’m not counting the last game as it had no importance.
Healthy is of course going to play a big factor. There were calls made to possibly bring Quinn Hughes in to replace Charlie McAvoy, but that has since fallen through. Another player on the roster also needs to be injured to open a roster slot.
I think we see the same, crazy Tkachuk boys and the USA will need them. They absolutely set the tone in their 1st game vs Finland and carried it right into their game vs Canada. With some rest and a few days off, USA will be back to dominating.
Now when I say dominate, I don’t mean this will be a blow out. I do think this game goes under again, especially with Connor Hellebuyck in net for USA. Team Canada struggled against him last game which will keep the score down right off the bat. Canada will also look to slow down USA, but allowing 3 goals seems to be their trend.

Matthew Tkachul will have extra motivation to get on the score sheet tonight

The Tkachuk brothers may go down in hockey history now. They single handily may have converted thousands of NHL fans with their back to back fights against Canada in the 3-1 win. They also were a major factor in the absolute spanking of Team Finland, as both brothers scored twice. While tonight’s match will most likely be a tighter affair and a lower score like the first time these teams faced each other, I still think Matthew Tkachuk can get on the score sheet.
The two brothers, Brady and Matthew, are both highly skilled wingers who play in a similar style as their father Keith Tkachuk. They can bulldoze over opposing players, cause havoc in front of the net and be huge pain in the asses to play against. This often leads to open shooting lane, high danger scoring opportunities and odd man break aways. They are being centered by Jack Eichel, who is no slouch either.
But Matthew may have extra motivation to get on the scoresheet tonight. Team USA have not only been playing for their country, but also for fellow countryman Johnny Gaudreau, whose death this summer devastated the hockey world. Johnny’s father has been with the team, and Johnny’s team USA jersey has been given out to the player of the game for team US. Matthew Tkachuk was a long time teammate of Johnny while the two played for the Calgary Flames.
We are getting an elite player at even money tonight, who has all the motivation in the world to play his best. Team USA will be doing this for the country they love and the player they love. All of this and they are playing in Boston, where Johnny played three years for Boston College.

Team Canada teammates Nathan Mackinnon, Mark Stone and Sidney Crosby celebrate after scoring a goal.
Canada vs USA Prop Bets: Connor McDavid o2.5 SOG (-125) Get 50% up to $1000 Deposit on BetOnline for this pick
Connor McDavid is considered the best hockey player in the world. He can make plays at top speed that even the best figure skater would find difficult. He can weave through defenders, create space and shooting lanes for himself and is a one-man offensive machine. Not only is he one of the fastest players in the league, but his playmaking is elite.
This is his first international tournament, and he was the lone goalscorer in Canada’s loss against team USA. He will be motivated to get revenge tonight and topple team USA and bring home the Four Nations Faceoff trophy. He should once again lead team Canada in time on ice and has hit his 3 SOG (shots on goal) prop in two of the three games he played in the tournament, including against team USA.
McDavid is now playing with Brayden Point and Mark Stone, meaning sniper Sam Reinhart is off his line. These two wingers are fantastic playmakers, and will get in the dirty areas of the ice to help set up their teammates. This should result in McDavid being the key shooter on his line, unlike before when McDavid would try to set up Reinhart.
Not only do all of these factor line up to McDavid SOGs being a best bet of the game, but tonight the over time rules will be like the NHL playoffs. If the game goes to overtime the teams will play full periods of hockey until one team scores. This means McDavid could have ample time to get his SOGS in.
