Giants vs Falcons NFL Week 16 Predictions & Picks (12/22)
After a 6-3 start to the 2024 campaign, the Falcons’ confidence took a hit with a four-game losing streak. Fortunately, they turned things around against the Las Vegas Raiders in Week 16, notching a 15-9 victory at Allegiant Stadium, mostly thanks to running back Bijan Robinson’s 125-yard performance on the ground.
The Falcons now look to win consecutive outings for the first time since November when they face the Giants, who are coming off a 35-14 blowout loss to the Baltimore Ravens. The outcome wasn’t anything new for Brian Daboll’s team, which has now lost nine consecutive contests by an average score of 11.7 points per game.
Even though the Giants have more away wins (2) than they do at home (0) this season, they haven’t tasted victory on the road since Week 5. They’ve been outscored 53-38 on aggregate in back-to-back losses since then, leaving time to tell if their luck will change at Mercedes-Benz Stadium.
The Falcons have a losing record at home this season (3-4 SU), however, they’ve won three of the last five outings in their own backyard. Speaking of which, Atlanta owns a 2-0 SU record and a plus-18.5 average scoring margin in its last two home games vs. New York.
Can the Giants win in Atlanta for the first time since October 2007?
The Falcons’ odds of victory will hinge on how Michael Penix Jr. fares in his first-ever NFL start. With Kirk Cousins imploding under center, Atlanta has no choice but to start the rookie signal-caller, who was drafted eighth overall back in April. He made one start during the preseason, going 9-of-16 in the pocket for 104 passing yards and a 76.0 passer rating.
Although the Giants have been one of the NFL’s worst teams, Penix won’t have an easy time racking up yards. New York surrenders the seventh-fewest passing yards per game this season, meaning Atlanta could put more of an emphasis on the run game this weekend.
As for the Giants, it remains to be seen who will be their Week 16 starting QB. Tommy DeVito is dealing with a concussion after Drew Lock suffered a foot injury to begin the month, meaning Tim Boyle may start against the Falcons.
The ex-Eastern Kentucky QB has made three starts this season between the Giants and Miami Dolphins, completing 27-of-50 (54.0%) passes for 276 yards, one touchdown, an interception, and a 68.4 passer rating.
Giants third-string QB Tim Boyle could be making his sixth NFL start in Week 16.
Even though upsets happen all the time in sports, the Falcons are the right pick to win this game. Even though Penix has yet to play an NFL snap, Atlanta is in much better shape than a New York team that hasn’t won in over two months. There’s just no reason to overthink things.
With the way that the Giants have been getting blown out lately, you should also take the Falcons to cover the spread. The Giants have only covered once in their last nine games and just fell to the Ravens by 21 points last week, meaning it shouldn’t be too difficult for the Falcons to win by nine-plus points.

Best Giants vs Falcons NFL Week 16 Player Prop Bet
I like Bijan Robinson scoring the Falcons’ first touchdown (+162 on Bovada) as one of this Week 16 matchup’s best NFL prop bets.
Robinson has been terrific throughout his second NFL campaign, racking up a career-high nine total touchdowns in 14 outings thus far. In the seven games that the ex-Texas Longhorn found the back of the end zone, four of those scores were Atlanta’s first TD of the game. There’s a good chance of that trend continuing against the Giants, who have allowed the third-most rushing yards and 12 total TDs to running backs this season.
With this potentially being a run-heavy game for the Falcons, look for Robinson to shine.
