#8 Indiana vs #5 Notre Dame Bet
Standalone Friday night in South Bend, Indiana, two of the state’s finest football programs face off in the College Football Playoff.
The 11-1 Indiana Hoosiers have been a fan favorite this season, having the best year in their program’s history in the first season of the Curt Cignetti era. Unfortunately, year one of Cignetti’s tenure will come to an end Friday night against the Fighting Irish.
This team has had a relatively easy path to this point, playing just one ranked opponent—Ohio State on November 23—where they were dismantled 38-15. The week before, they barely squeaked by Michigan, winning 20-15. Indiana has shown flashes of brilliance, but those moments came against the Big Ten’s weakest teams.
Meanwhile, Notre Dame—historically a team I have never been high on due to their track record over the last three decades—has demonstrated incredible discipline this season. Since their Week 2 loss to Northern Illinois, they have run the table to close out the season and not looked back.
Over that ten-game stretch, they defeated #15 Louisville, #24 Navy, and #19 Army, as well as #20 Texas A&M at Kyle Field in Week 1. They have won by double digits in every game, except for their 31-24 victory over #15 Louisville.
This Fighting Irish team feels legitimate and appears to be on a mission to reach the National Championship. Indiana, on the other hand, carries the energy of a team that benefited from playing a lot of weaker opponents and looks better than they are—much like Notre Dame often does in years past.
I do not believe this line will drop to the key -6.5, but even if it does, it will not matter. The Fighting Irish should roll through the Hoosiers by at least ten points.
Go Irish.
Bet: Notre Dame (-7) on BetOnline
