#8 UT Martin vs #5 Tennessee Tech Best Bet
The Ohio Valley Conference Tournament—what an exhilarating conference. Today, we are backing both offenses in this matchup, as they rank first and second in the Ohio Valley in road offensive efficiency this season. With the game being played at the Ford Center in Evansville, Indiana, we should see plenty of scoring.
This will be the third meeting between UT Martin and Tennessee Tech, with the Golden Eagles winning and covering both previous matchups. The Skyhawks will look to upset the No. 5 seed and get their revenge, but we are not concerned with picking a side. The over at 140.5 is where I lean.
As mentioned, these teams rank first and second in adjusted offensive efficiency in the Ohio Valley, per Bart Torvik. They also sit at eighth and ninth in defensive efficiency, placing them among the bottom 60 defenses in the entire country. Both allow over 73 points per game on the road in conference play.
UT Martin ranks dead last in eFG% defense and three-point rate defense on the road. They are also ninth in two-point defense and block percentage defense. Meanwhile, Tennessee Tech, meanwhile, sits last in defensive block percentage and turnover percentage.
Tennessee Tech prefers an up-tempo game, ranked 103rd in pace per Haslametrics. UT Martin generally plays at a slower tempo, but on the road, they tend to speed things up, ranking top 150 in tempo and top five in the conference.
Both teams have averaged over 70 points per game away from home. During conference play, they are each putting up more than 73 points per game on the road. If the Golden Eagles can push the pace and create plenty of scoring opportunities on both ends, the total should go over.
Best Bet: Game Over 140.5 (-103) on BetOnline
