Stanford vs Georgia Tech Best Bet
Nothing like a good old-fashioned ACC matchup between the Stanford Cardinal and the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets—a rivalry as old as time. Georgia Tech finds themselves as slight home favorites, coming off a 75-61 loss to a horrific Virginia team, which followed their upset road win over Clemson. Stanford, on the other hand, is coming off a narrow win over NC State as six-point favorites. This matchup will be Stanford’s furthest trip since January 18th, when they edged out North Carolina 72-71. Despite that win, my eyes are on the Yellow Jackets.
Long Road Trip
Haslametrics ranks Georgia Tech as the tenth-best team in their home gym this season, while Stanford is ranked 12th worst when playing away from home. The Yellow Jackets have not had much success against top-100 teams, securing just two wins in 13 games against them. However, their defense is where they shine, ranked 88th in adjusted defensive efficiency over their last ten games. They have also kept their fouling in check, ranking 25th in free throw rate defense. Overall, at home this season, Georgia Tech boasts a top-150 offense and a top-105 defense.
Stanford has struggled defensively on the road. The Cardinal ranks 216th in effective field goal percentage, 272nd in turnover percentage, 255th in rebounding, and 243rd in perimeter defense. There are some interesting trends for Stanford as a road team and as a road underdog. In seven road games as underdogs—which accounts for all their road games this season—the Cardinal is 3-4 straight up. On the other side, Georgia Tech is 9-1 as a home favorite this season.
With travel fatigue setting in and a road game against Duke looming, the Cardinal is likely to be a bit sloppy tonight against the Yellow Jackets. Expect Georgia Tech to come out firing after an embarrassing loss.
Best Bet: Georgia Tech Moneyline (-115) on BetOnline
