The Oregon Ducks face a very tough matchup this weekend as they go into Madison to take on the 11th ranked Wisconsin Badgers. Both teams come into this game riding very impressive winning streaks, but only one can be victorious. The Ducks have won three straight games to improve to 8-8 in Big Ten play this year, while the Badgers sit at 11-4 in the conference.

Wisconsin has won five straight coming into this game, and are 13-1 at the Kohl Center this year, with their lone loss coming to Michigan by three points. They are red hot and are gunning for not only a Big Ten Title, but also a #2 seed in the NCAA Tournament. After Michigan went down, the Badgers could be just one game out of 1st place of the conference with a win.

Dana Leads Ducks into Big Ten Country

Despite winning three straight, the Ducks have been less than impressive in their first year in the Big Ten. After starting off the season 9-0 and winning the Player’s Era Festival in Las Vegas, beating Texas A&M, San Diego State and Alabama, the Ducks went undefeated in non-conference play. However they have taken a beating from the top half of the Big Ten.

The Ducks have lost 4 of their L5 on the road, and are 0-3 against Top 25 teams away from home. Oregon sits in 8th place in the Big Ten. Sitting at 8-8 in the conference, the Ducks have just one win against a team higher up than them in the standings, beating Maryland at home. Oregon beat Maryland, the bottom 6 teams in the conference, and Ohio State.

On the flip side, they’ve lost every REAL Big Ten battle, including against Nebraska as well. Overall, they are not as good on the road as they are at home, and I am fully bought in to the Badgers.

Full transparency, I did snag -7.5 (-120) pretty much as soon as this line dropped on Friday, but I trust the Badgers to run up the score. They have a very weak remaining Big Ten schedule, and could very easily win the conference if Michigan and Michigan State drop a game (Badgers play Sparty and Michigan schools play each other). As they continue to push for a 2 seed in March Madness, let me tell you just how good this team is.

Wisconsin ranks 7th in the nation in adjusted offensive efficiency, Top 30 in eFG% and Top 20 in TO Rate. They shoot the ball well, take care of it, and let it fly from deep. The Badgers rank 17th in 3P Rate while shooting over 38% as a team from beyond the arc. Oregon struggles to defend the perimeter on the road, watching their 3P% Defense drop from 80th to 321st in the country, letting their hosts shoot over 6% better at home (32% -> 38%).

Defensively, Wisconsin is Top 40 in overall efficiency, 67th in eFG%, 42nd in offensive boards allowed and 28th in FT Rate defense. They’ve put up 94 and 95 in back to back games and are a complete powerhouse at home. Give me Wisconsin to roll.
