NCAA Basketball Predictions, Odds & Best Bets: Monday Hoops (2/3)

A new week is upon us and we’ve got to dive in to Monday’s College Basketball slate to find our best bets for today! We’ve only got 20ish games on the board, but we still found some edges to exploit. Let’s do this thing.

NCAA Basketball Best Bets – February 3rd, 2025

Texas A&M Corpus Christi vs East Texas A&M Predictions

Best Bets: TAMU-CC -7.5 (-110) Bovada

Tonight we are backing the Islanders on road against an inferior team from East Texas A&M (formerly Texas A&M-Commerce).

Ultimately, I see this being a very lopsided game. TAMU-CC is ranked 142nd overall on Bart Torvik, nearly 200 spots higher than the East TAMU Lions. The Islanders do a great job of getting to the free throw line, ranking Top 40 in FT Rate offense. Their high tempo speed usually translates to plenty of opportunity to score the ball given they rank 63rd in possessions per game in the country. The Islanders are also coming off two straight losses and having lost three of their last four games.

In what is a true “bounce back” spot, I see Corpus Christi handling business on the road. East Texas A&M is coming off a big win and arguably their best defensive performance of the season. They have no problem playing at a fast pace, but they do not have the offense or defense to compete. The Lions are 345th overall offensively and 278th on defense. They give up tons of offensive rebounds and free throws, so I could certainly see the Islanders spending plenty of time at the stripe.

While I will admit I would rather have -6.5, I do not think the line moves that way. I see Corpus Christi having no problem covering three possessions.

Northern Colorado vs Idaho State Predictions

Best Bets: Idaho State ML (+105) BetOnline

Tonight we are backing Shaggy’s Little CBB Sweetheart, the Idaho State Bengals. Everybody loves some Big Sky basketball, and the hosts are looking for revenge tonight.

Idaho State lost to Northern Colorado about a month ago in Greeley. The game went into overtime and it took the Bears shooting over 62% from the field to scrape out a 93-92 victory. Now, back at home with revenge on their minds, I will certainly back the Bengals.

Idaho State is 8-2 at home this year, winning four straight on their own court as well. This team is Top 6 in offensive rebounding while also cleaning up the glass on the defensive end as well. They are also Top 100 in FT Rate, so trips to line could be fairly frequent tonight. As for Northern Colorado, they absolutely take care of the basketball. The Bears are 14th in turnover rate on offense, and they clean up the defensive glass. But that’s about it.

The Bears do not offensive rebound on the road (298th), they do not get to the free throw line (293rd) but send their opponent their frequently (297th). Northern Colorado has won two straight games and 10 of their last 11. They are due for some regression, and with Idaho State being at home, with sweet revenge in mine, give me the Bengals to get the job done at home.
