See Picks & Statistics For The GameThe Miami Hurricanes are 1-10 in ACC play this year and are coming off that lone, conference win. After doing so well in the NCAA tournament just a couple years ago, the Hurricanes have completely fallen off. They are just 5-17 this season and have plenty of terrible losses on their resume already. They go into Louisville as 18 point underdogs, and quite frankly I’m not sure it’s enough.
The Cardinals just lost at Georgia Tech last weekend, but they have won 11 of their L12 dating back to late December. Louisville has multiple scoring options, as four players average double digit points, and they are Top 150 in assist rate. This number seems fairly large, but let’s get into the matchup and see if Miami stands a chance tonight.

Hurricanes Head to Louisville Following First Conference Win

Matthew Cleveland is the Canes best scoring options
This has been a character building year for the Hurricanes. They dropped three games on a neutral site in an early season tournament before letting that spiral into seven straight losses, including one to Charleston Southern at home. They finally beat Presbyterian but then proceeded to lose their next 10 in a row.
The Hurricanes are coming off their first conference win, their first win in nearly two months, and they have a tough task ahead. Even though they haven’t played since last Saturday, I’m not sure it will matter much.
After losing to Georgia Tech, the Cardinals got right back on the horse and took down Boston College. They sit tied with Clemson for 2nd place in the ACC at 10-2 and having already beat the Tigers, they should not be worrying about them at all. Handle business the rest of the year, and you’ll end up the #2 seed in the conference, which is a great place to be.
Ultimately I have been very impressed with the way Louisville has played this year, especially after losing Kasean Pryor. Likewise, I have been very unimpressed by the Hurricanes this year, and I will be fading Miami.

Miami vs Louisville Prediction: Louisville Wins & Covers, Over 151.5
Best Bets: Louisville -18 (-105) BetOnline
Don’t be afraid of this big number. The Cardinals have covered 8 of their L10 and 10 of their L13 overall. The Hurricanes are 2-9 ATS in their last 11, but there is much more to it.
Louisville is Top 30 in both offensive and defensive efficiency. They do a great job at controlling the free throw line, ranking 43rd in FT Rate offense and 64th defensively while also limiting offensive rebounds, grabbing their own, and winning the turnover battle. The Cardinals love to run, and they will do so at such a pace that Miami can not keep up.
Miami is simply terrible. They rank north of 300 in the following categories.
- Defensive Efficiency
- eFG Defense
- Turnovers Forced
- FT Rate Offense
- Offensive Rebounds
They are also 290th in offensive rebounds allowed, not to mention bottom 7 in eFG% defensively on the road. The Canes don’t get to the free throw line or grab second chance possessions, which will make it very tough to keep up with the high flying offense of Louisville.
