Georgia vs South Carolina Odds
The Georgia Bulldogs have been on fire over their last three games against some of the SEC’s best. They started by covering the 14.5-point spread in an 82-70 loss to Auburn on February 22. Then, they took down No. 5 Florida 88-83 as 6.5-point underdogs last Tuesday before dominating Texas on the road 83-67 as 5.5-point underdogs on Saturday. They have been playing at an unreal level, but it is time to come back down to earth tonight against South Carolina.
The Gamecocks are out for revenge after falling to Georgia 71-60 on January 28. Now, back in their home gym, they should rise to the occasion.
South Carolina has been inconsistent, going 2-3 straight up and against the spread in its last five games. However, those two wins were dominant home performances against Texas and Arkansas. Per Haslametrics, South Carolina ranks as the fifth-best home team, while Georgia ranks as the 14th worst road team.
Inside their home gym, the Gamecocks have maintained a top-45 defense, excelling in interior defense at 79th in two-point defense. Offensively, they boast a top-100 unit and are one of the best in the country at getting to the free throw line, ranking 14th in free throw rate offense. They also crash the boards hard, ranking 97th in offensive rebounding—an area where they should thrive tonight, as Georgia is the sixth worst defensive rebounding team away from home.
The Bulldogs’ offense falls apart away from home, ranking ninth worst in effective field goal percentage, fifth worst in three-point shooting, and 298th in two-point percentage. They also get their shots blocked at the 18th highest rate in the country. This is a completely different team on the road, and after three impressive performances, some regression is expected—especially with South Carolina locked in for revenge on Senior Night.
