The Friars welcome DePaul, a team they already defeated on the road in December and one of the worst defensive teams in the Big East. With a favorable matchup and extra motivation, Providence’s offense is poised for a big night.

DePaul vs Providence Best Bet
This is a rematch from my birthday, December 10, when the Providence Friars took down the DePaul Blue Demons 70-63 as short road underdogs in overtime. Now, the Friars are eight-point favorites at home, looking to sweep DePaul on senior night. I lean toward Providence covering the spread, but I am taking their team total instead. DePaul allows 80 points per game to opponents on the road, and this is Providence’s final home game of the season—a meaningful spot, especially for the seniors.
The Friars are coming off a tough stretch, losing three straight against some of the Big East’s best. They fell 75-63 to UConn on Saturday, 82-52 at Marquette before that, and were blown out at Georgetown 92-72. During that stretch, they averaged just 62 points per game. Now, they return home to face one of the worst defenses in the country. The Friars average 73 points per game in their own gym.
Haslametrics ranks Providence as the 45th-best home team in the country, while DePaul is the 22nd-worst team away from Wintrust Arena. Unlike their first matchup in December, the Friars’ offense should find more success and avoid another rock fight. At home, they rank 86th in adjusted offensive efficiency, 73rd in effective field goal percentage, and 80th in three-point percentage, while taking threes at the 42nd-highest rate nationally. Turnovers are an issue, but DePaul struggles to force them.
DePaul has by far the worst defense in the Big East, ranking last in adjusted defensive efficiency on the road. They are bottom three in two-point defense, block percentage, rebounding, and effective field goal percentage. Six of their nine road opponents have scored at least 75 points, regardless of pace.
Providence plays at a middle-of-the-pack pace in the Big East, but DePaul’s defensive issues remain consistent. Eight of the ten Big East teams have scored at least 75 points against them this season.
Losing three straight, final home game, senior night—everything points to an explosive offensive performance. Give me the Friars to go over 75.5 points tonight!
Best Bet: Providence Team Total Over 75.5 (-120) on BetOnline
