See Picks & Statistics For The GameMarquette is set for payback, and DePaul is the perfect target. After barely surviving an overtime scare in their last matchup, the Golden Eagles return home ready to make a statement. Given DePaul’s road woes and Marquette’s offensive strength, this one could get out of hand quickly.

DePaul vs #18 Marquette Best Bet
A good old-fashioned Big East revenge spot. “But Colby, DePaul lost in their first meeting back on January 14.” If you think Shaka Smart and the Golden Eagles do not have this one circled after the Blue Demons nearly upset them at Wintrust, you have another thing coming. Last year, after DePaul fired Tony Stubblefield, the Blue Demons rallied to cover the 18.5-point spread at home against Marquette. The following game? Marquette dismantled them 107-71. Fast forward to January 14 of this season—Marquette escaped Wintrust with an 85-83 overtime win. Now, back at home and favored by 17, this could get ugly.
DePaul on the Road
I would avoid the -17 for Marquette. The team total over feels more tempting at 80.5 or less. DePaul has been abysmal on the road this season. They rank 27th worst in effective field goal percentage defense, 7th worst in turnover defense, 12th worst in three-point defense, and 288th in two-point defense. Offensively, they are a mess, ranking 305th in turnover rate, per Bart Torvik, and they do not crash the offensive glass, ranking 268th. On the road, the Blue Demons are allowing 82.5 points per game to their opponents.
Marquette has struggled over their last three games, dropping contests to UConn, St. John’s, and Creighton. They have not hit 80+ points in four straight. However, at home this season, the Golden Eagles maintain a top-50 offense. They excel at protecting the basketball, knocking down free throws, and finishing efficiently inside. Defensively, they are elite at forcing turnovers, ranking 10th nationally in that category at home. DePaul’s sloppy offense will be ripe for the picking.
Scoring 80 points is standard for this Marquette squad—they average 80.9 points per game at home this season. If my math is right, that is over 80.5. With the Golden Eagles pushing the pace (ranked 65th at home), this game should have plenty of possessions for the home team to clear that mark.
Give me the Golden Eagles to have a field day against DePaul’s defense.
Best Bet: Marquette Team Total Over 80.5 (-125) on BetOnline
