Creighton had a horrible showing in the PLayer’s Era Tournament, losing their first two games before barely beating Notre Dame. Since then, they had a huge upset win over #1 Kansas at home, and took down the UNLV Rebels who are ranked 105th. They unfortunately lost transfer Pop Isaacs for the rest of the year, but they’ve looked fine without him so far. The question will be: Can the Blue Jays shoot on the road?

Alabama is a team that dares you to keep up offensively, which is right up Creighton’s alley. The Crimson Tide have been marinating in their big win over North Carolina for 10 days, ready to pounce on their next opponent. They seek revenge against a team that was able to take them down last year, but this season things might be different.

Will Blue Jays Keep Building Momentum?

Like I said, Creighton is missing Pop Isaacs. This line makes sense to me, especially considering we might have closer to 170 points scored in this game. Overall, I do not think Creighton has the offensive fire power to keep up with Alabama for a full 40 minutes of action. Let’s break it down.

For starters, Alabama plays incredibly fast. Sure, Creighton is 90th in possessions per game, but Alabama is on another planet. The Crimson Tide are the 5th fastest team in the country, with a Top 3 offense as well. They shoot plenty of threes, knock them down for over 33%, and live at the free throw line. Alabama ranks 32nd in FT Rate offense, while also ranking 29th in 3P Rate offense. There will be tons of points for the Tide at the stripe and from beyond the arc.

Defensively, they are much more sound than Creighton, even though they are fine with giving up some buckets. The sheer amount of possessions in this game would be enough for me to lean with the over, but I do have a strong lean on the home side in this matchup.

I don’t give a piss about nothing but the Tide this weekend. We missed out on -9.5 but -10 is fine with me. The Tide should roll the Blue Jays this Saturday.

They are going to speed Creighton into hyperdrive, making them play much faster than they are used to. Plus, Creighton is a live and die by the 3 type team, and with Alabama ranking Top 30 in both 3P Rate and 3P% Defense, I see this being a long night for the Blue Jays. In their first game away from home in a new gym this season, Creighton shot just 19.3% from deep, going 6/31 against SDSU. They eventually got used to the gym, but now face another unfamiliar, hostile environment.

If you can guard the three, you can take down Creighton. Alabama can certainly guard the three, as they held North Carolina to a 5/28 (17.8%) shooting night in their own gym. Defensively, Creighton does not have the bodies to slow down the Crimson Tide, and Kalkbrenner will have to battle Clifford Omoruyi down low to earn all of his points.

Give me the Tide to Roll at home.
