See Picks & Statistics For The GameThis weekend, we close out the College Hoops regular season but not without a fantastic rematch of the Iron Bowl on the hardwood. The #7 Alabama Crimson Tide head into the Jungle to take on the top ranked Auburn Tigers, as they try to get some revenge on the road.
Last time these teams played in Tuscaloosa, the Tide went down, losing 94-85 on their home court. The Tide failed to cover as they were one point favorites, but the total ticked over 174.5, ending at 179. Now we see a much different spread but a similar total in the rematch, but what does it mean for both teams?
Auburn already wrapped up the #1 seed in the SEC, so they’re just playing for pride and their seniors on Senior Night. Surely they’ll want to end the season on a positive note, but Alabama also needs something to cheer for. They’ve dropped two straight now against Tennessee on the road and Florida at home, and things are not easier facing the best team in the country.

Will Tide Get Revenge on the Road?

Mark Sears leads the Tide into the Jungle this weekend
While the Tigers are just playing for pride, Alabama is not. Even though they can’t catch Florida anymore for the 2nd seed in the SEC, they could fall to the 4th seed, assuming Tennessee beats South Carolina in Knoxville. The difference between the 3 seed and 4 seed is potentially avoiding this Auburn team for a 3rd time until the Championship, so a win is crucial for the Tide.
They will certainly try to speed things up, as that is their only style of play. However, as we saw in the first matchup, the Tigers have the offensive firepower to keep up in a shootout. Auburn has done exactly that against fast teams all year long, scoring 81 against Florida, 94 against Alabama and Kentucky, and 106 against Ole Miss. Their offense is the most efficient in the country, and it shows no matter the opponent.
Auburn is also coming off a loss, a very rare event this year. Perhaps the Tigers were looking ahead to facing the Tide on Saturday when they were in College Station earlier this week. This is a rivalry game, Senior Night for the Tigers, and the last regular season game of a very memorable season. Surely the hosts come to play with everything they’ve got.

Just take the over. Seriously. Just do it. Don’t think “Well, Bama is in a revenge spot and Auburn has nothing to play for”…
If you like the Tide, you love the over, because they don’t win a low scoring ball game. Alabama has only scored less than 80 and won the game once this season, against McNeese State back in November. Their game is built for outscoring teams, and honestly, that’s their only hope.
Alabama’s defense does not necessarily travel with them but they are still Top 2 in adjusted offensive efficiency and eFG%. They are Top 10 in Offensive Rebounds and Top 32 in getting to the line. Alabama shoots a ton of threes (Top 50 3P Rate) and shoots nearly 40% from beyond the arc on the road (11th). The offense will show up, but so will Auburn’s.
Auburn is not nearly as fast as Alabama, as the Tide are the 3rd fastest team in the country. However, the Tigers jump from 123rd to 54th in possessions per game, meaning they speed things up at home. In this game, that simply means more points from both teams since both offenses are about as good as it gets.
