Warriors vs. Timberwolves | Game 1

The Timberwolves Towers
Dog Day Afternoon
Both the Warriors and the Timberwolves rolled into the postseason as the lower seeded teams in their respective series. The Timberwolves not only managed to upset the Lakers in Round 1, they did it in just 5-games. Anthony Edwards averaged 26.8 PPG, 8.4 RPG and 6.2 APG; he shot 42% from the field but it was more than enough for Los Angeles.
Despite being the lower seed, the Warriors were the betting favorite in their Round 1 series with the Rockets. Golden State jumped out to a 3-1 lead against Houston, but failed to close out the series until Game 7. Stephen Curry led the Warriors in points, rebounds and assists; becoming the first Warrior to do it for an entire playoff series and the oldest player ever to do so.

Our Best Bets in Game 1 between the Warriors and Timberwolves
Stephen Curry o37.5 PRA (-106 via BetOnline)

Stephen Curry back in the postseason and it’s been so much fun to watch. Through 7-games in the first round, Steph’s averaging 24.0 PPG, 5.9 RPG and 5.7 APG. Curry’s cleared this line in 11 of his L16 games and in 4 of the 7 games against Houston.
Against the Timberwolves, he’s cleared this line in 5 of his L6, going back to last season; recording 30+ points in all 5 of those games. Curry’s averaging 9.8 potential assists per game against Minnesota and 8 rebound chances.
On the road this season, Curry’s averaging just under 26 PPG to go along with 4.9 RPG and 6.5 APG; all while his shooting percentages remain consistent. In Round 1 we saw Steph go into Houston for Game 1 and put up 31 points, 6 rebounds, 3 assists, and they left win a win.
As the team beginning a series on the road, Game 1 becomes that much more important. The ability to come out and hit your opponent in the mouth on their home floor is something that can’t be matched. In 8 career Game 1s on the road, Curry’s averaging 26.8 PPG, 4.6 RPG, 6.1 APG and he’s taking almost 21 shot attempts per contest.

Batman & Robin
We’re sticking with the trend, dogs in Game 1 have been barking. We’ve now seen the Celtics, the Cavaliers, and the Thunder drop the first game of the second round; I’m expecting the same from a really young Timberwolves team.
Minnesota’s been off for almost a week and as we’ve seen with these other teams off extended break; rust begins to show. The Warriors come into tonight’s game fresh off a Game 7 win against the Houston Rockets. Houston held the Warriors to just 104 PPG in the first round, nearly 12 fewer PPG than their regular season mark.
The Rockets defense was elite, no question about it; so how’s this Timberwolves defense? It’s good, they were top-5 in points allowed both in the regular season and postseason; they held the Lakers to under 101 PPG in the first round and managed to best the Lakers in just 5-short games.
Tonight they face a very different team, a team arguably sports a lot more depth than Los Angeles did. The Warriors had big games from Buddy Hield, Brandon Podziemski and a variety of others in Round 1, they’ll need more of the same if they hope to make it to Round 2.
