See Picks & Statistics For The GameKlay Thompson and Steph Curry will share a NBA court tonight. Once again they’ll be in different jerseys and it will still be weird. The Splash Brothers reunite in Dallas where things have been tumultuous of late to say the least. Let’s get into it.
Game Information
- American Airlines Center Dallas, Texas
- Golden State Warriors (27-26) visit the (28-26) Dallas Mavericks
- Previous Matchup: DAL Win 143-133 December 15th, 2024

One last ride? Jimmy Butler joins a dynasty that may be over.
Golden State Warriors @ Dallas Mavericks
When Stephen Curry sits on the bench theres not a lot of familiarity around him anymore. Yes, the bench boss is still the same and Draymond Green is still jawing, but things are very different. Curry is an icon ingrained in the fabric of the modern NBA. History will remember him with Durant and Thompson but now he’s got Butler. Maybe they win a championship. Maybe they don’t. One thing has become clear: they will not get many more chances to lift Larry.

American Airlines Center has become a hostile place for the Mavericks own front office. Mark Cuban infamously shouted down detractors at the last home game. Anthony Davis is already injured indefinitely. Amidst the chaos there are still slivers of hope. Kyrie Irving was named to his 9th All-Star game. Max Christie looks like a fantastic young player on a bargain of a deal. Most importantly, they are still in the playoff hunt.
NBA Playoffs: The Race Begins
This game is important to both of these squads as teams are now starting to worry about the playoff picture. Both of these teams want to climb out of the play-in but neither is likely to do so. This means that games like this are even more important. Golden State likely sees Dallas as a team they can leapfrog in the standings after drama and injuries have taken all the headlines. The Mavericks should not be counted out though. Klay Thompson and Kyrie Irving have proven winning pedigrees and a chip on their shoulders.
Warriors are currently 10th in the Western Conference while the Mavericks are just ahead as the 8th seed.
NBA Game Analysis
Golden States is hard to analyze as the acquisition of Jimmy Butler changes them completely. Stephen Curry has already noted that he enjoys how he fits with him. He dominates the outside and his gravity gives Jimmy room to operate with two feet in the paint. Up until this point in the season, Golden State has stayed in games on defence alone, but with Jimmy they have a triple double threat added to the rotation. The Mavericks rotation is missing several big men and Jimmy Butler might be able to dominate the likes of Hardy, Christie and Dinwiddie.
The visitors are the favourite here and they should be. Steph has welcomed a new star and he’s been phenomenal. Curry is averaging 33.0 points per game on 5.6 threes per game in the month of February. His percentages leave a little to be desired. However, that may mean Curry has another level he can hit. A reinvigorated #30 is a scary thought for the association.
The Mavericks front court is in desperate need of help. First it was Lively but now Gafford and Davis have joined him on the injury report. This squad has surprised teams and stayed in most games of late but it is hard to see how they do that tonight. The Mavericks path to victory is a masterclass from nine time NBA All-Star Kyrie Irving. This is his team now. He is averaging 41.8 minutes in February.
Unfortunately, Kyrie Irving has failed to exceed over 33.5 points & rebounds in 14 of his last 16 games vs. top 10 defences for points allowed. The Warriors are 10th so perhaps Kyrie can break the trend. It is possible as the team is beat up and will need to rebound my comity tonight.

NBA Best Bet: Jimmy Butler o1.5 Steals & Blocks (+100)
Hit this line in both his games as a Warrior. Butler had four steals last game against Milwaukee. He should be in a lot of action tonight as Steve Kerr’s defensive scheme means everyone defends. Butler is a ferocious presence on the defensive end but his stats from this year do not support that. He was not playing up to his potential in Miami. In February he averaged just 0.8 steals & blocks. The Warriors need the Jimmy Buckets that was the best player on a NBA Finals team. That means Jimmy turning defence into offence.
