Pesky Portland went on a run that made every fan of the association take notice. However, they’ve returned to earth having lost two straight including a beat down handed to them by their same opponents tonight. Two nights before that, they got a frigid reception in Minnesota, and that without Superstar Anthony Edwards. This will be the final game of a three game trip for one of the youngest teams in the NBA. Denver is already a tough place to play and to complicate matters Portland is not as good on the road. They are 8-18 as visitors.

Denver is on a seven game win streak. This team is hitting their stride at perfect time. Denver’s offence is a juggernaut sitting top 5 in so many statistical categories that it is baffling. The Joker is an otherworldly talent and this supporting cast fits well around him. If they can tighten up and improve their defence they have an outside chance to catch the Thunder. Oklahoma City has dominated the division going 7-1. Denver is 9 games back of them currently. Chances of them catching up are slim but stranger things have happened.

NBA Game Analysis

The Trail Blazers will be shorthanded in this one with Deandre Ayton and Scoot Henderson both being out. Both players were important parts of the recent run. Fortunately, Portland still has several talented young players who are assuredly ready to step up. Denver is elite at home. The only way Portland can compete is if they beat Denver at their home game. They’ll need to play fast and score often. Denver is 26th is fast break points and 18th in 2nd chance points given up. Portland has speed in their lineup and they are fourth in second chance points scored. Additionally, Denver is 24th in points in the paint. If Pesky Portland gets hot then there is a path to victory despite the odds being incredibly slim.

The Denver Nuggets offence is third in points, third in offensive rating, and second in both EFG % and True Shooting Percentage. If opposing defences are ill prepared then Denver will bury you. For example, Nikola Jokic just had 40 points on 15/22 in just thirty minutes against Chauncey Billups’ Blazers two nights ago. This team dominates the paint and is number one in fast break points. Coming into the mile high city is truly a nightmare.

NBA Best Bet: Christian Braun o18.5 Points & Assists

The Portland Trail Blazers are 28th in fast break points allowed in the NBA. Braun just dropped 26 points on them on Monday night. There is no reason to doubt one of the premier transition threats in the association. He is 2nd in the league in transition frequency and his transition points per game rivals elite superstars like Giannis Antetokounmpo, Ja Morant, and even Shai Gilgeous-Alexander. Also, he is a willing and talented bail out passer so that gives us some cushion as well.

Additionally, Christian Braun has exceeded his 21.5 points & rebounds line in 6 of his last 7 games at home. He is incredible playing for home fans. Braun averages o25.1 points & rebounds per game in his last 7 at home. I’m going with the points and assists but Braun is a great player overall to target in this one.
