See Picks & Statistics For The GameIt has been anything but sunny for the Phoenix Suns. They host the feisty Minnesota Timberwolves for Sunday night NBA action. Anthony Edwards and Naz Reid look to steal one on the road against the reeling Suns. Can Kevin Durant and Devin Booker right this ship? Let’s talk hoops.
Game Information
- PHX Arena Phoenix, AZ
- Minnesota Timberwolves (32-29) visit the (28-32) Phoenix Suns
- Previous Matchup: MIN Win 121-113 January 29th, 2025

Kevin Durant is being very open about moving on from Phoenix in the offseason.
Minnesota Timberwolves @ Phoenix Suns
The T’Wolves are not a very good team but their compete level gives them a chance in any matchup. They currently sit ninth in the West and their next five games are very winnable. They lost their two games against the Jazz and the Lakers. They’re 4-6 in their last ten, so you know Chris Finch is preaching to his team to tighten up as the last third of the season plays out.
The Suns have been brutal. The month of February was not kind to them. Mike Budenholzer’s team went 3-10 in a month where they played three overtime games and only came away with one win. They were hotly debated around the trade deadline and then did nothing likely in part to Bradley Beal’s no trade clause. Kevin Durant seems to have one foot out the door as the media reports on his future while he’s still a Sun.
As Minnesota chases playoff position this is a game they need to win. Anthony Edwards takes on his favourite player growing up in Kevin Durant. The Suns may fall out of the play-in. This game has all the narratives and implications NBA fans love.
NBA Game Analysis
Last time these two teams played the Timberwolves won. The Ant-Man was otherworldly with 33 points on 11-20 shooting. Edwards has made a habit of being a superhero nightly. He is averaging a career high of 27.3 points. Additionally, he is averaging 28.5 points on 58.8% shooting in two games against the Phoenix Suns. He has also scored over thirty in 4 of his last 6 against them.
Minnesota thrives on good defence and relentless offence with threes and second chance points. The Suns are 22nd in second chance points allowed and 28th in offensive rebounds allowed. The Suns are also 18th in 3-point % allowed while the T’Wolves shoot the three at the 5th best clip in the association. The Timberwolves play style is a tough matchup for the Suns specifically. Anthony Edwards is the leader but Naz Reid’s skillset has been the X-factor as of late for this team.

Every media report out of Phoenix points to this team being a dumpster fire. They have three max-level contracts and still sit below .500. Their defence ranks in the bottom half of the association is most categories. They score but let their opponents score much more. The rest of the season in the valley is likely to be a mess. The only way this team even stays in games is their stars scoring. Devin Booker averaged 28.0 points in February despite the teams awful record. Their only wins came against Chicago, New Orleans and Utah.
The best mid-range shooters this season:
1. Kevin Durant = 56.2%
2. Cam Thomas = 51.5%
3. Devin Booker = 51.1%
4. Shai Gilgeous-Alexander = 51%
5. Mikal Bridges = 50.4% pic.twitter.com/mKrVkhlzWa— Evan Sidery (@esidery) March 2, 2025
NBA Best Bet: Timberwolves ML (+105)
Anthony Edwards is a game time decision with calf soreness. If he doesn’t play then this wager is absolutely cooked. However, I do think he plays as Minnesota tries to bounce back after consecutive losses. The Suns are poor in every area where the visitors excel. Minnesota should be able to steal this one on the road. The Suns are 6-16 in 22 games against top ten scoring defences. And in conclusion, they Minnesota Timberwolves are 21-11 in games against bottom 10 scoring defences.
“That’s my GOAT… I’m starting to see like, ‘Okay, yeah Kevin Durant is real…’ then he start guarding me. I’m like, ‘KD, come on, KD. Like you ain’t no defensive player.'”
