It is finally Friday, ladies and gentleman. We’ve got NBA action with generational superstars as the playoff races heat up in the ultra competitive Western Conference. Can the Suns start a win streak on the road or will Denver continue to win in the altitude? Let’s talk hoops.

The Suns have three max contracts and are rumoured to be shopping all three of them. Booker wants to stay put, Durant wants to go contend, and who knows what Bradly Beal wants. If this team had 29 wins in the East it would be a different story. In the West? They’re sitting outside of the play-in. Phoenix will likely get in by securing the 10th seed over the Mavericks. However, if they are not careful then Pesky Portland is right there. The Trail Blazers are building momentum and the team they’re chasing is 3-7 in their last 10.

The Nuggets started slow but they’re golden crispy now. 7-3 in their last ten and they’ve secured sole possession of the 3rd seed as the 4th seeded Grizzlies have lost 4 straight. They’ve quietly put together a season worthy of the label of contender. It will likely be down to the Lakers and Nuggets for the second seed and the chance the avoid the OKC Thunder until the Western Conference Finals. LA and Denver hate each other. This is great for NBA fans as they will jockey for position in the closing weeks.

NBA Game Analysis

The Suns just came back down by 23 to win against the Clippers at home on Tuesday. Except the headlines weren’t about the comeback. Mike Budenholzer and Kevin Durant had an altercation the cameras caught. The coach grabbed at his star’s arm who pulled away. A few words were exchanged but nothing more. However, the video went viral. It is hard to win in the NBA when your locker room is so toxic. This isn’t even mentioning the report that coach also asked star guard Devin Booker to be less vocal so the coaches could be heard.

So, how do the Suns win any games? Booker and Durant are like a fusion reaction some nights. This teams problem is depth and defence. They can score with the best. The Nuggets not good at forcing turnovers and they’re 26th in opponent assist-to-turnover ratio. Devin Booker and Kevin Durant could slow the pace and get themselves more possessions in a bid of quantity over quality. I think that’s why we are seeing a higher total for the game.

The over hit in 7 of the last 9 road games for Phoenix. If the Suns star power is enough then they could cover or steal this one on the road. They’ll have a starter in the rotation with some extra motivation but we will get there soon.

If the Nuggets come correct they should win this one. Covering could be difficult as the Suns desperately try to salvage their season. The Nuggets are a horrible matchup for the team in orange. Denver is 1st in points in the paint and 2nd chance points where Phoenix’s defence ranks 18th and 25th respectively in those categories. The season series is 2-1 Nuggets.

Other Things of Note:

• Nikola Jokic is a game time decision but I think he still plays. In three games against the Suns this year he’s averaging 27.7 points per game. He absolutely kills this team.
• The Phoenix Suns are 3-10 ATS in their last 13 games vs. bottom 10 scoring defences. They get in shootouts with bad scoring defences and still lose the game.
• Aaron Gordon and Zeke Nnaji are also GTD with ankle injuries
• Suns will be without Cody Martin and Monte Morris with Bradley Beal GTD

NBA Best Bet: Bol Bol o1.5 Steals & Blocks (-105)

Bol Bol played for his opponents sparingly for three years then he was shipped to the Magic and finally landed in The Valley. In his one game against Denver this season he had 19 points, 7 rebounds, and 4 blocks. Bol is immensely talented, tall, and now finally motivated. Kevin Durant loves his talent and he’s been good since being inserted into the starting lineup. He’s a modern day player who is having a lowkey breakout year after becoming a starter just a few weeks ago.

He hit this line in only 5 of his last 10 but he had four blocks against Denver which was right when he began to start.

Bol Bol is good.

Moves remarkably well, both w/ and w/o the ball. Has a nice jumper. Showed some impressive vision/decision-making on some of the passes he’s made. Natural deterrent at the rim.
