Knicks vs Mavericks NBA Predictions & Picks (11/27)

Tonight’s matchup should be close as both sides have recently excelled at building momentum, each going 5-1 SU across their last six respective outings.

The Knicks’ latest run-in with success came on Monday with a 145-118 victory over the Denver Nuggets. OG Anunoby couldn’t be stopped, scoring a career-best 40 points while shooting 69.6% from the floor and 71.4% from deep, as Karl-Anthony Towns also made an impact, contributing with a double-double (30 points, 15 rebounds).

High-scoring games have become the norm for the Knicks, who rank first in the NBA regarding points and field-goal percentage across their last six games.

Time will tell if that run continues against the Mavericks, who are coming off a 129-119 win against the Atlanta Hawks. Kyrie Irving led by example with his 32-point effort while Spencer Dinwiddie shocked viewers with a season-high 22 points off the bench.

It could be up to Irving to shoulder the load again tonight, though. Luka Doncic (wrist) has already been ruled out while Klay Thompson (foot), Dereck Lively II (illness), and Quentin Grimes (illness) could be game-time decisions.

Can the Mavericks win again without Luka Doncic (wrist)? 

The Knicks will also be somewhat shorthanded as Mitchell Robinson (ankle) and Precious Achiuwa (hamstring) still aren’t ready to make their 2024-25 debuts.

The good news is that New York’s frontcourt has held down the fort throughout the duo’s absence. Towns is pacing his teammates in points (26.3), rebounds (12.6), and blocks (0.7) while Anunoby is putting up 23.2 points, 6.1 rebounds, 2.9 threes, and 1.3 steals across his last nine outings.

The bad news for the Knicks is that they’re only 1-4 SU across their last five encounters with the Mavericks. That stretch includes back-to-back losses in New York’s latest two trips to American Airlines Center, allowing an average of 125.0 PPG along the way.

Can the Knicks end their streak of bad luck against the Mavericks? 

At the end of the day, the Knicks are my pick to win this game. Even though they don’t have much recent luck against the Mavericks, the former is the healthier team at the moment and has rostered the same starting lineup in all but one game this season. I just can’t bring myself to trust Dallas as long as it’s without several of its key pieces.

With that in mind, let’s take the Knicks to cover the spread and move on to the best prop of the night.

It’s kind of shocking that OG Anunoby’s point total only sits at 17.5 tonight. That’s why I’m declaring the Over (-121) as one of the best Knicks vs. Mavericks player props out there.

The 2024-25 season has been a career year for the 27-year-old, who’s averaging some of the best numbers of his career — including on offense. Anunoby is averaging 19.1 points with .524/.422/.830 splits through his first 17 games, finishing with the Over on this prop eight times. Even if that isn’t the highest success rate, it’s worth noting that six of those instances occurred in his last nine outings.

With the Over being 5-1 in his last six games against the Mavs (21.8 PPG/51.0 FG%/42.1 3p%), I will be shocked if Anunoby doesn’t step up on the road.
