The Hornets have been horrible. They are 2-8 in their last 10 while shooting just 40.1% from the field as a team. Opponents are scoring 116.4 points a game while the Hornets are only mustering 97.9 points for themselves in that same stretch. This team did steal a win inside of Crypto.com Arena. So, they still have a pulse even though it is fading fast. However, they have lost their last three games by 131 points. Pulse, or no pulse, this team is the Michael Jordan of losing right now.

NBA Game Analysis

How can the Hornets win? LaMelo Ball. The Hornets have one win without their star. They are 13-23 with him in the lineup. He has scored under 20 points in just one of those wins where he scored 19. This team is not constructed to win now but Ball is a All-Star talent. If you think the Hornets can cover then LaMelo Ball’s points will be needed and his line of 23.5 on most sports books feels comfortable.

Also, Dallas continues to be dealing with injuries and will be playing incredibly small. Mark Williams might be able to exploit their size and finish at the rim while cleaning the glass. In Dallas’ last game, the Lakers lone big was Jaxson Hayes, he had 8 & 8 while being +8 in only 17 minutes. The Hornets are tied for 3rd in second chance points, 3rd in offensive rebounding and Dallas is 29th in offensive rebounds allowed.

It’ll be up to former Hornet PJ Washington to limit Charlotte’s rebounding opportunities.

The Mavericks will likely come out ready to jump on the Hornets. If they still have designs on the playoffs then they’ll want to attempt to climb out of the play-in. That starts with winning this relatively easy game. They have 5 wins in their last 6 home games. If Dallas catches an L here then the locker room may start to divid and succumb to the injuries and pressures of this unprecedented season.
