Clippers vs. Nuggets| Game 5 Recap

The Nuggets look to keep this from being a lost season.
Result: Nuggets (131) – Clippers (115)
Jamal Murray. That’s the summary of Game 5 in this Western Conference Quarter-Final. The Canadian kid had 43 points and 7 assists in the Nuggets’ Game 5 victory, carrying the bulk of the scoring load for Denver. The big Serb finished with just 13 points but still managed to stumble into a 10 rebound and 12 assist triple double.
Russell Westbrook made his way back into the lineup after missing Game 4 with a foot injury. He finished with 21 points off the bench, shooting 53% from the field and 50% from beyond the arc. The Clippers were lead by Ivica Zubac, he finished with 27 points on 11/15 from the field in 37 minutes of game time.
Kawhi Leonard scored just 20 points in Game 5, but left his mark on this game with 11 rebounds and 9 assists in 37 minutes. Harden continued to struggle in their last game, going 3/9 from the field with 4 turnovers and 4 personal fouls. He finished with 11 points, 8 rebounds and just 5 assists.
Dog Fight
The Clippers and Nuggets been assessed over 10 technical fouls combined in this series so far. It’s evident these teams don’t like each other and tonight with the Clippers on the bring of going home; look for both teams to come out swinging. Denver lead the last game from the first bucket of the game to the very last buzzer.
Their biggest lead was 22 points and they finished the game up 16 points, the biggest winning margin by either team in this series. Tonight the Nuggets have a chance to finish the series, get a couple days of extra rest and not have to go home with a Game 7 looming.
Denver’s already managed to steal one the road, can they do it again tonight?
Our Best Bets in Game 5 between the Nuggets and Clippers
Ivica Zubac o29.5 P/R (-115 via BetOnline)

Zubac is averaging 20.4 PPG and 10.5 RPG through the first five games and he’s managed to play 38.3 MPG.
Tonight the Clippers are back in Los Angeles, now on the verge of elimination. Zubac has looked like an All-NBA Center this year and it’s just another testament to how much fun playing with James Harden can be. Zubac is averaging 19.7 PPG in his L20 games, in addition to 13.0 RPG and 3.2 APG.
With Nikola Jokic on the court, the Clippers best matchup is Zubac and they’ll need him out there for as long as he can go. He’s put some added preassure on Jokic in this series, averaging 5.0 offensive rebounds per game.
Nuggets +6.5 (-105 via BetOnline)

Just a few trends that point to a Nuggets’ cover tonight.
Road teams in NBA first round Game Sixes are 27-16 SU and 30-13 ATS (69.8%) in the last 12 seasons. Since 2013, teams that lost their previous game by 12 points or more are just 63-118 SU and 73-106-2 ATS (40.8%) in the next game; this would be the Clippers in this situation.
Road teams looking to close out a series in Game Six of the first round are 19-8 SU and ATS (70.4%) in the last 27 opportunities. The Nuggets come into this as the road team, looking to close out this series. Just this season, we’ve seen the Warriors and Timberwolves both in similar situations.
The Warriors got smacked in the mouth, the Timberwolves sent the Lakers home on their home floor. The Nuggets come in tonight looking to imitate what the Timberwolves managed to do yesterday.
