Cavaliers vs Celtics NBA Cup Predictions & Picks (11/19)
Fans wouldn’t be shocked if the Eastern Conference Finals come down to these two juggernauts.
The Cavaliers are officially 15-0 to open the 2024-25 season following Sunday’s 128-114 victory over the Charlotte Hornets. They’ve been dominant on both ends of the court, and that extends to the road where they’re 7-0 SU while averaging 122.7 points for (2nd) and 111.4 points against (10th) with a plus-11.3 average scoring margin (4th).
But as impressive as the Cavaliers have been, their chances of victory could rely on who suits up tonight. They’re dealing with several injuries at the moment as Sam Merrill (ankle), Caris LeVert (knee), and Isaac Okoro (ankle) are all questionable to face the Celtics. At the same time, Dean Wade has already been ruled out with an ankle injury.
In other words, the Celtics must take advantage of the situation. Joe Mazzulla’s team is the healthier of the pair at the moment as only Kristaps Porzingis (foot) has been ruled out while Payton Pritchard (thumb) will likely be a game-time decision.
The Celtics will be without Kristaps Porzingis (foot) again on Tuesday night.
Even though the Celtics’ record isn’t flawless like their opponents, the defending NBA Champions still have some momentum on their Sunday. Saturday’s 126-123 overtime win against the Toronto Raptors marked Boston’s seventh victory in its last nine outings as Jayson Tatum nearly recorded a triple-double, tallying 24 points, 11 rebounds, and nine assists.
Let’s also not forget that visitors struggle to produce results at TD Garden as the Celtics are 10-2 SU in their last 12 home games dating back to the 2023-24 postseason. The Cavaliers have learned the hard way that Boston isn’t necessarily a welcoming environment, having dropped 11 of their 13 previous road matchups against the Celtics.
Additionally, Cleveland is an unimpressive 14-33 SU as the road underdog since the start of the 2022-23 season. Conversely, Boston is a resounding 85-23 SU as the home favorite during that stretch, further emphasizing how important the home-court advantage could be tonight.
Can the Cavaliers pick up a rare victory in Boston tonight?
The Cavaliers are doing something special at the moment, but all good things must end eventually. If the Cavs are finally going to lose, it may as well be to a team like the reigning NBA Champs. The Celtics are one of the league’s best teams at both ends of the floor and are built to handle whatever the visitors throw at them, especially with Cleveland’s lineup potentially being shorthanded.
Having said that, I’m taking the Celtics to win but for the Cavaliers to cover the spread. After all, Boston is only 2-4 ATS in its last six games as well as 4-8 ATS in its 12 previous encounters with Cleveland. The Cavaliers are also 10-4 ATS in their last 14 Eastern Conference matchups as well as 13-4 ATS in their last 17 games overall.
Even if the Celtics wind up handing them their first loss, the Cavaliers are good enough to keep things closer than expected.

Best Cavaliers vs Celtics NBA Player Prop (11/19)
For tonight’s best Cavaliers vs. Celtics NBA prop bet, I’m going with Jarrett Allen o10.5 total rebounds (-130).
It’s been a career year for Allen, who’s averaging a personal-best 10.9 rebounds per game this season. The ex-Texas product has finished with 11-plus rebounds in 10 of his first 15 outings (66.7%), which includes when he racked up 15 boards against the Hornets two nights ago. While the Celtics will do their best to prevent Allen from further dominating in the paint, that might be easier said than done considering how they’re surrendering the 10th-most rebounds at home this season and just gave up 12 to the Raptors’ Jakob Poeltl over the weekend.
After he hit the Over when he last faced the Celtics back in March, I’m confident in Allen’s rebounding outlook tonight.
Best Cavaliers vs. Celtics Player Prop: Jarrett Allen o10.5 Total Rebounds (-130)
