It’s officially that time of year, time for me to get into my MLB Bag and find some winners. We’ve got a small slate of games today, so let’s get surgical.

Pitcher Report| June 2nd

Yak City
First thing you see when you look at this sheet is Aaron Civale. The righty’s started just 3-games so far this season, going 12 total innings; giving up 11 hits, 8 earned runs and 4 HR. It’s been a tough start to the season for Civale, between his injury in March and his last two starts since returning.
However, since returning from injury he’s allowed just 1 HR in 9 innings of work and given up just 7 total hits. He might be finally finding his groove. The Angels are on the East Coast today, battling the Boston Red Sox at Fenway Park.
Angels’ starter Tyler Anderson has been good this year, recording a 3.39 ERA, despite giving up 11 HR on the year. Anderson’s struggled on the road this year, recording a 4.78 ERA outside of Anaheim and giving up just over 2 HR/9. He’s struggled vs lefties this year and he’ll face another lefty that’s given him trouble throughout his career; Rafael Devers.

Weather Man, Weather Man
Today’s games come with some great conditions all over the country. The Dodgers once again will host at Dodger Stadium, this time with New York’s other team in town. The Mets are in Los Angeles and ready to battle the team that beat them in the National League Championship Series last year.
This isn’t the first time the two teams have met this year, with the Mets taking two of the three games they played last week in New York. With wind blowing out and not a cloud in the sky, the ball might just fly tonight.
Let’s take a trip to the Midwest, the Whitesox are hosting the Tigers and Rate Field in Chicago’s got the smallest outfield in all of MLB. Jack Flaherty gets the start for the Tigers and he’s absolutely killed them in his L3 games against the Whitesox. He’s recorded 7+ strikeouts in all 7 games and Chicago currently ranks 9th in strikeouts against righties.
Let’s finish it off with the conditions in Boston and Cincinnati. Both stadiums have mild winds blowing out of the stadium and decently air pressure. The low air pressure allows the ball to fly more through the air, hopefully resulting in a few more homeruns.
Our Best Bets on the Diamond for Sunday, June 2nd.
Shohei Ohtani o1.5 Total Bases (-135 via BetOnline)
Yeah, we’re betting on the best baseball player alive; again. Ohtani’s been on a different planet this year, he’s hitting .298 this year and that jumps up to .305 when he’s at Dodger Stadium. Ohtani’s hit 22 HR already this year and he doesn’t look like he’s slowing down.
Last night Ohtani went 0/4 against the Yankees in the final of their 3-game series. The Dodgers lost and only the top of the order was to blame. Tonight they get New York’s other team, the team they beat in the National League Championship last year.
For the Mets its Paul Blackburn. Blackburn hasn’t started a game in 2025, his last start coming in August of last year. Tonight, in his first action of the year; he faces a stacked Dodgers lineups, lead by Shohei Ohtani.
Ohtani has recorded 9 at-bats against Blackburn in his career, batting .444 with 2 singles, a double and a homer. Tonight should be more of the same. Ohtani’s hit 22 HRs this year with 18 of them coming against right-handed pitchers. He’s looking like an early MVP-favorite and tonight against Juan Soto and the Mets, expect no different.
Bonus: Shohei Ohtani 2+ Home Run (+1100)
Jack Flaherty o6.5 Ks (+106 via BetOnline)

Like I said above, the White Sox kinda stink and Flaherty has crushed them in his L3 starts. Flaherty’s also hit this line in 6 of his 11 starts this year, including 8+ strikeouts in back to back games.
The Whitesox rank 11th in strikeouts allowed this year and 9th in strikeouts allowed to righties. Tonight despite great conditions in Chicago, look for Flaherty to lock it in and record his 4th win of the season.
