Rockies vs Mets: It is that time again—Meatball Day is here, and our guy Antonio Senzatela is back on the mound. The Mets could not ask for a better setup to snap back into form. With Senzatela’s struggles and Colorado’s bullpen woes, this one is lining up perfectly.

Rockies vs Mets Best Bet
My favorite day of the week—meatball day—served up by my favorite chef, Antonio Senzatela. And we are taking the Mets to have a field day with him on the bump.
The Rockies’ starter has been the worst pitcher in baseball this season, by far. He is carrying a 6.50 ERA and a 1.94 WHIP, serving up meatballs to every hitter he has faced. Through 11 starts, he is allowing 8.18 hits and 2.36 extra-base hits per outing. Yes, eight hits per start. On the road this season, across five starts, he owns a 5.32 ERA and is allowing a .410 opponent batting average.
As a team, the Rockies are allowing 16.37 total bases per game—14.76 on the road. The Mets, meanwhile, are averaging 13.49 total bases per game. Over the past week, New York has posted a .239 average, .340 OBP, and 98 wRC+. Not exactly eye-popping, but consider who they get to find their rhythm against on Saturday afternoon.
Senzatela throws fastballs 53% of the time. That pitch grades at -2.05, per FanGraphs. The Mets are seeing fastballs well this season—eight hitters on the roster have an xBA above .244, xSLG above .455, and a hard contact rate over 45%.
This is an automatic play for me with how atrocious Senzatela has been. I can live with losing this prop, knowing it would take his best start since March 29, when he gave up nine hits over 4.1 innings—but somehow no runs. I think we will be just fine. Also worth noting: the Rockies bullpen owns a 1.47 WHIP and a 4.30 ERA.
Go Mets.
