Let’s close things out with some nationally televised baseball between two of the best in the National League, as the Atlanta Braves host the Los Angeles Dodgers. The hosts are looking to avoid the sweep tonight, as LA has taken the first two games of this series to begin their road trip.

This is the first of a four series road trip for the Dodgers, who do not play at home in May until Tuesday the 13th. But that hasn’t slowed down this team at all. They are currently on a seven game winning streak, taking two from the Pirates and sweeping the Marlins at home, before beating the Braves in the first two of this series. Will they stay hot tonight after scoring 10 runs yesterday?

The Braves certainly need a win, as Atlanta sits at 14-18 and tied for 3rd in the NL East. They have now dropped three straight games, but prior to that they had won nine of their last 11. Could they turn the ship around tonight and start their own winning streak?

With such a high total, it’s pretty evident that we will see some runs tonight. Plus, for all you conspiracy theorists, you’ve got to think the MLB tosses out the juiced balls for nationally televised Sunday Night Baseball, eh? Eh? Regardless, the high total is telling in my eyes, and I am not one to fade a streak. The Dodgers have been rock solid so far this season, Atlanta is slumping, and although Bryce Elder is better at home, I don’t think he’s got the stuff to take down the Dodgers tonight.

Dodgers vs Braves Prediction: Dodgers Win, Over 9.5

Back the Dodgers to keep on winning tonight. They are the 3rd highest scoring offense in the MLB so far this season, 2nd in the NL, and this is a great matchup for multiple Dodger hitters who already have great history against Elder.

Bryce Elder only throws four pitches, but he tosses his sinker and slider nearly 80% of the time. Three of his four pitches are well below league average, including his most used slider, and even his sinker is barely average around the MLB this season. The Dodgers have nine hitters with at least an above average matchup rating on batters-box.com, with four of those being great, and one being elite (Ohtani) tonight against Elder.

Elder has allowed 3+ earned runs in 4/5 starts this year, and 5+ hits in four straight. He’s the perfect candidate for a Dodgers’ batting practice on Sunday Night. As for Dustin May, he has five pitches in his arsenal, but only really throws four of them. All four of those pitches are above league average, while his cutter only gets thrown 3% of the time. I see him shoving tonight on the road against the Braves’ bats that have been nonexistent the past few games.

Overall, give me the Dodgers to make it eight straight wins tonight.
