Yup, we are running it back. The Dodgers first five inning team total over is a go.
Today, the Dodgers have the highest average hitter matchup rating on the slate, per Batters-Box.com. Their lineup features four elite-rated hitters, two graded as great, along with four hitters who strike out less than the league average. Los Angeles enters as the fourth-best first five scoring team in baseball, averaging three runs per first five innings. Arizona is allowing 2.59 runs in the first five at home this season.
They face Arizona starter Brandon Pfaadt, who holds the second-worst pitcher rating on the day. He brings poor ratings in average hitter matchup wOBA, ISO, hard contact rate, and ground ball percentage. Pfaadt owns a 3.79 ERA and a 1.24 WHIP this season. He has allowed over this number in four of his seven starts. He has been better at home, giving up three runs in just one of four home starts.
However, those outings came against mediocre teams. The Orioles, Rays, and Braves have all been either awful or extremely inconsistent to start the 2025 season. The Cubs were the one team that scored three runs on Pfaadt at home—and they just happen to be the number one first five scoring team in baseball.
While this prop is not quite as juicy as it was last night, I still think it is a go. Shohei Ohtani holds the highest rating on the day and looks due to leave the yard again this week. Freddie Freeman and Mookie Betts also have great matchups in this game. I would rather sweat the runs than the player props here.
