With the 2025 season on the horizon, World Series odds have shifted significantly since the last update. Key teams have seen notable movements, including the Mets, whose World Series odds have dropped, and the Dodgers, who continue to dominate despite questions about their ability to repeat. Meanwhile, a sleeper pick like the Texas Rangers may just offer a surprising opportunity at long odds, making them a team to watch heading into the new season.

Line Movement
There has been a lot of movement since the last World Series odds update, with the Mets notably dropping from 7/1 to 12/1 in just two months. Their offseason has been relatively quiet, aside from signing Juan Soto to a mega deal. They did re-sign Pete Alonso to a two-year, $54 million contract. However, their starting rotation still requires attention. As it stands, they will need to rely heavily on their offense in 2025 if Sean Manaea is slated to be their Opening Day starter.
Leans
Has anyone mentioned the Dodgers repeating in 2025? Nobody?! Wow.
Would I pay +275 for a team to win the World Series? No.
Would others still consider it a good bet, given that it is still at plus money? Yes. However, I am not wasting my money on a team that has to play 162+ games, stay healthy, and hope they do not face a team that gets hot at the right time and potentially knocks them out of the postseason. Baseball is a sport where the team with the most star power on paper does not always take home the crown. Being the regular season champion means nothing once October arrives.
Dark Horse Alert
Looking for a sleeper pick? I have one: the Texas Rangers.
I may be overly fond of this team, but how can you not be? Texas re-signed Nathan Eovaldi, traded for Jake Burger, and signed Joc Pederson. Their lineup, top to bottom, is packed with some of the most dangerous bats in the league. On top of that, they have a wealth of young talent. Wyatt Langford, who batted .253 with an OPS of .740 in 2024, recorded 126 hits and 16 home runs. Josh Jung, who struggled with injuries in 2024, was a key contributor in 2023, earning an All-Star selection with a .266 batting average, .781 OPS, and 23 home runs. They also welcome back Evan Carter, who was instrumental in their World Series run in 2023. During that postseason, Carter batted .300 with an OPS of .917, recording 18 hits and nine doubles. This offense has the firepower to average six runs a game. At 20/1 on BetOnline, that is an excellent price for a team determined to make another run to the World Series.
